tsr Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 I don't understand how the sale of Pittodrie will contribute anything, the debt is tied to the stadium therefore the sale of the stadium means the debt gets repaid first? Quote
RDU_64 Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 I don't understand how the sale of Pittodrie will contribute anything, the debt is tied to the stadium therefore the sale of the stadium means the debt gets repaid first? Surely if thats the case then the sale of Pittodrie will contribute a lot to the club as it can only be a good thing that the level of debt is reduced. Is it not that the land that Pittodrie is situated on is worth significantly more than the land the new stadium will be built on, therefore making a substantial step to reducing the debt? Quote
tsr Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 I think Pittodrie is valued at £18M or so....debt is £13M and rising. Quote
mizer Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 I think Pittodrie is valued at £18M or so....debt is £13M and rising. Was that pre economic slump? Quote
Jute Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 Was that pre economic slump? Was just about to ask how recent that valuation was. Suspect that land might not be worth as much now. Andy Quote
manc_don Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 It's another step in the right direction. It will certainly be interesting to see what value we will get for Pittodrie. That valuation seems to ring a bell with the pre slump figure, when this proposal was mooted some 4 years ago. Quote
Edinburghdon Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 I'm fairly sure the valuation was pre slump, however the idea of getting planning permission for the land prior to selling it is much more recent and will offset the drop in valuation due to the economy. Quote
El Padre™ Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 Ugh, naming rights. We're going to end up with something like "The KP Crisps Stadium" Quote
mini59dons Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 More like a bidding war between the Stewart Milne Homes Stadium, and the Scotia Homes Arena. or somesuch! Quote
glasgow sheep Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 I couldn't give a flying fuck what they call the new stadium if someone is willing to pay the dough to get naming rights Quote

Kowalski Posted March 16, 2011 Author Report Posted March 16, 2011 i'll be stunned if its not an oil company I don't think calling it the "BP/Shell/Exxon-Mobil/etc.. Arena" would be all that bad. Not sure about a green and yellow BP logo outside the stadium though. Quote
tom_widdows Posted March 17, 2011 Report Posted March 17, 2011 Might be an idea to approach Conoco and see if they will move their naming rights to the North East of Scotland since the New Grimsby town stadium is basically dead. Quote
Madbadteacher Posted March 17, 2011 Report Posted March 17, 2011 a) is it not loirston? b) I like the sound of "Aitkens Rowie Stadium" Quote
