One key point.

There is no way you can manage the quality of a bottle of wine once you have purchased it. There can be varying perceptions as to whether it is of a high or low quality but you cannot alter its performance in any way shape or form. It is what it is.

Ergo, its a shit analogy.

I've been bemused for a while now by folk saying we should be mounting a proper challenge on the Old Firm.

What do folk think our limited budget buys in relation to the rest of the SPL. An analogy:

If you buy a £20 bottle of wine, it'll be a bit above average. Any £20 bottle would usually have consistency and would only rarely see you buying a duffer.  See the Old Firm with their players, some of whom command £20,000 a week wages.

Now then compare that to a £5 bottle of wine... £5,000 a week is supposedly how much our top earners are on. There's gonna be a big difference in quality, though sometimes you'll find a nice bottle that can match the £20 bottle. However, there will be less consistency and will be plenty times you wished you could buy a £20 bottle instead but can't afford it.

Lastly, Compare your £5 bottle to a £4.50 bottle, a £4 bottle, a £3.50 bottle. Why should the £5 bottle be sooooo much better than the £4.50 bottle. It ain't going to be.

What do some people think that Aberdeen FC spending marginally more on players than the majority of the league will buy us success? Are they just mintal?

The club should still have a belief that we can win every game, and play like we're trying to, but across a season the Moet is likely gonna fair better than the Cava.

Sounds like you've been on the cheap wine!

There are some very nice bottles of red out there for £5 and some utterly terrible Bulgarian efforts for £3.50. A small difference in price but an ability to spot a good grape and the right territory can get you an awful lot more for your money.  ;)

You have to make sure wine is served at the right temperature, it is the right wine to go with the food, is in the correct glass and there are quite a few things you can do to wine e.g. bucks fizz, spritzers etc

For instance you could compare a talented youngster to a bottle of sparkling wine, to much excitement at the beginning could mean bubbly going everywhere and lots of it being wasted just like a youngster believing his hype.

Fair point and well made.
