Yes, I travel to Aberdeen very infrequently so it doesn't hit me too hard and above all I just want to see some sort of stadium project get underway some-fucking-where at some-fucking-time!

HAHAHA - how long have you lived here? That will never happen. We don't even have a link to the airport terminal! We'll be lucky if we see the bypass built within our lifetimes!

AC Smarts Shoppie on Urquhart Rd/King St corner has a petition against relocation to Loirston if anyone is interested.

22 Years.

We actually do! There's a free bus that links Dyce station to the airport, I only recently found out about it.

I can't see the bypass anytime soon, but railways, I do think?

They are dualing to line to Inverness, why not more?

AC Smart is shite though. They never used to sell me drink when I was underage :( I've never forgiven them for that.

You dirty bastard! The one that has Bottles of alcopops in the window beside the latest Postman Pat book next to Concept Cigarette Machines. I swear if kids buy all three together they get a discount!

Thats the one!

Might pop in past on the way to work now

I really am in two minds.

One side of me says that Aberdeen FC belongs at the beach. The Dons are as much a part of Aberdeen beach as the Codonas and the Beach Ball Room.

But the other side of me says, so long as they build a pub out there that's close to the stadium, and provide adequate rail and/or bus links to the stadium from the city, it'll be a good choice with plenty of room for future expansion and carparks and shit like that.

But that's just self interest, not the best interests of AFC as a whole. It's like the majority who want AFC to stay at Pittodrie because they can walk to the ground. nothing more than slef interest. There will be loads of fans in Kincorth and Cove who will now walk to the game, sure they will be delighted with the move. Self interest is not a valid reason.

Going to need more than one pub... One for the away fannies, and probably a few for the Dons fans.

There's fuck all there including the means to GET there. As I've said already, this is all fantasy island stuff so let's just say we'll build it at the beach. That can't be afforded either but we should at least aim for a decent unattainable dream.

might even cycle up there once it's be done and all that.

It might take a bit longer than 10 minutes if you cycle.

Why do you do it to yourself? It's like shooty-in, in piss-taking terms.

Pittodrie, Health Board, Bobbin Mill, Red Lion, the three golf clubs, Broadhill and Scotia are usually busy on matchdays so there will be a need for more than one, what would the bars do on the other thirteen days in the fortnight and close season?

There are three roads back in to the city from loirston, it doesn't matter how many buses are in service you'll be stuck in a traffic jam.

Afc can't afford a rail link to the stadium and network rail [or whoever] have nothing to gain by providing one, so it isn't going to happen

1. They're called Transport Scotland

2. And if/when it gets built it won't just be a stadium that gets used once every fortnight, it'll be and do much more than that, so pubs & a railwayline will have lots to gain from it.

"It was a decent cross from Reid and NTD just had to try and clear and ended up putting it in his own net."

Putting it that way, I see your point. Nothing better than getting in your car after a game at Pittodrie, and next thing you know, you've breezed home on empty roads in no time at all. I'll miss that.

how many people do you think would take a train to loirston to go to a restaurant/cinema/bar/kid's play area/5 a-side's/golf driving range/whatever is built there?  there's no train link to the airport.  i never said a pub wouldn't get enough business, i said if there were several pubs they wouldn't get enough business.

 you think it's difficult getting home from pittodrie? it'll take much longer for most from loirston  much less roads to use and i would guess heavier traffic due to more fans taking their cars

I'm not happy with the location, but won't complain if it gets built there. We really need a new stadium, and if it has to be there, then fair enough. I just hope there will be suitable infrastructure in place for such events to occur. I doubt it though, this is Aberdeen we're talking about  :-\ I once used the shuttle bus from the airport to town, went past some nice places and rubbish bins of fire :D

I'm not exactly 100% happy with the location, however if its the avenue that gives us the best chance of a new stadium then i'll happily live with the out of town location.  An inner city stadium seems pretty much impossible, assuming that the feasibility study is correct and a kings links development would be limited.

If its done properly and with adequate facilities and transport links then im happy enough!

I think thats my worry though. Obviously if it was inner city limits, there wouldn't be these worries as they already in place. But I just get the horrible feeling it will be a white elephant with very little around it. I hope not though. We need it, Aberdeen as a city needs it, whether the council actually realise it or not.

I am unhappy with the proposed site for the new stadium from a purely selfish point of view. Due to travelling from the north I would be required to go through the city centre and this would pose a massive headache for me. The congestion would be horrific and would make travelling to games a real hassle. With the current state of my finances and the football on offer this would seriously make me think twice about going to games.

Of course if the proposed bypass ever goes ahead and a road to loirston loch was provided then this would solve many problems. It would also mean no sitting in traffic for an hour waiting to get out of Aberdeen as I currentley do. As for the pub situation I am sure that this will be sorted as some enterprising young person will build one out there to cater for the many fans.
