TENEMENTFUNSTER Posted December 14, 2011 Report Posted December 14, 2011 Well then it should have been left to them to deal with it. I see the lads dad is calling for the big man to be arrested. http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/289791/Charge-Big-Man-who-threw-my-son-off-train-in-ticket-row-says-dad His father is even more of a tosser than his boy. fatjim Posted December 14, 2011 Report Posted December 14, 2011 The lad was just on the radio and he claims he had been given two single tickets when he had bought the tickets. he had a student card and the conductor in the morning had accidentally given him two singles from polmont to edinburgh park. he also is diabetic but had had a few drinks before he was on the train. mizer Posted December 14, 2011 Report Posted December 14, 2011 If he had two singles from Polmont to Edinburgh - how did he get through the barriers at Edinburgh onto the train then? Quote

mizer Posted December 14, 2011 Report Posted December 14, 2011 Is there a barrier at Edinburgh Park? Is that where he got on? No barriers there if so. Quote
fatjim Posted December 14, 2011 Report Posted December 14, 2011 well that is what I wrote, what he said on the radio and what is said in the video. You obviously missed it. Quote
TENEMENTFUNSTER Posted December 14, 2011 Report Posted December 14, 2011 is diabetic but had had a few drinks before he was on the train. Mitigation? Really? Quote
CtS Posted December 14, 2011 Report Posted December 14, 2011 He's a nice boy really, he's just gone off the rails a bit. Quote

fatjim Posted December 14, 2011 Report Posted December 14, 2011 so? There is always more than one way to look at an incident. Instead of just looking at a few mins of video that clearly misses the start of the situation. People just jump to conclusions based on that. Diabetes can cause people to behave differently as does alcohol. I'm not saying this is always acceptable. From listening to the guy he clearly sounded a bit thick but then so did the ticket guy on the video. The lad claims that he had bought a valid ticket but the mistake was made by the conductor in the morning. Quote

dave_min Posted December 14, 2011 Report Posted December 14, 2011 The lad was just on the radio and he claims he had been given two single tickets when he had bought the tickets. He should have them when he got them then. he had a student card So? and the conductor in the morning had accidentally given him two singles from polmont to edinburgh park. He should have them when he got them then. ALSO, I find that almost impossible to believe that the conductor could do that, thats like saying that you tried to buy an apple but the guy gave him 2 bananas instead. he also is diabetic but had had a few drinks before he was on the train. So? Quote

ALSO, I find that almost impossible to believe that the conductor could do that, thats like saying that you tried to buy an apple but the guy gave him 2 bananas instead. So? He explained it as being some deal that the conductor was giving him where one ticket was the full price but the other was discounted and the conductor then made a mistake. Why would he need to keep a ticket he had already used? I'm not saying whether this is true or not as he may be bullshitting. I'm just saying that all sides should be listened to before people think some guy is a hero for assaulting someone off a train when it wasn't his place to get involved. already answered the so that tom widdows asked. dave_min Posted December 14, 2011 Report Posted December 14, 2011 Why would he need to keep a ticket he had already used? My post would have made more sense had I not missed out the word "Checked" twice. Also, when he became aware he had the wrong ticket, he should have gone to find the conductor to explain the problem instead of try to bump his way home. Quote

What if he had already made the first trip before he realised? We don't know. Most have just damned this lad because he swore and seemed to not have a proper ticket. That may have been the case and to be honest I couldn't care less. However if it is true what he says then I'd hate to think that if I was in a similar situation that a member of the public took it upon themselves to assault me. Quote
dave_min Posted December 14, 2011 Report Posted December 14, 2011 What if he had already made the first trip before he realised? It wouldn't matter, when he got onto the train to go home he would see he had the wrong ticket. IF he had been given 2 singles instead of a return, the only reason would be that because one single would be for a peak train and one for an off-peak one. In such a case, the ticket would clearly state on it that it was an off-peak single bough during a peak time on the outward train and hence validate his story - but he didn't, he just swore a bit. Either way, I agree with you, couldn't really care less either way. Quote

Either way, I agree with you, couldn't really care less either way. He never said he bought it during peak. He said he bought it around 10. Not everybody checks their ticket so religiously. Especially if it was purchased in such an unusual way. I know if I buy a return I just get the ticket for that journey and put the other away in my wallet. It may have been a surprise to him that he didn't have the correct ticket on the way home. The video doesn't show the start of the conversation and the lad's ire may have been exacerbated by the conductor's attitude which may have resulted in him swearing at him and repeating that he had paid. Again we don't know either way. We can only continue to add more conjecture to the situation. Perhaps we should have an online petition to see if the public give a fuck. Quote
Kowalski Posted December 14, 2011 Report Posted December 14, 2011 Prepare to be bored... From the Railway Byelaws: ?(2) Removal of persons (i) Any person who is reasonably believed by an authorised person to be in breach of any of these Byelaws shall leave the railway immediately if asked to do so by an authorised person. (ii) Any person who is reasonably believed by an authorised person to be in breach of any of these Byelaws and who fails to desist or leave when asked to do so by an authorised person may be removed from the railway by an authorised person using reasonable force. This right of removal is in addition to the imposition of any penalty for the breach of these Byelaws. The boy who threw the guy off asked the authorised person, who gave permission. I think that made him an "authorised person". Quote
