What a run-in before the split!  I'm guessing 8 wins out of 9.

What a start to the season we have! Tough games b4 our european games start is exactly wot we need to get us ready

Gretna at Fir Park on Boxing Day though is an utter joke, the SPL has no common sense.  Dundee Utd would have been more sensible but no they put us as far away as we could possibly get! c**ts!

On the plus side another pre xmas game against the huns on 22nd dec

Remember that when we play Gretna we will actually be playing at Fir Park at not at Gretna!

The SPL is mostly made up of teams from the central belt, so no real surprise that we would have been going down there - and either ICT, Dundee Utd or ourselves would have to lose out, no matter how you arrange the fixtures.

Anyway, its only Scotland - the country is bloody tiny and only takes a few hours on the road to get where you need to be. Think if you had to travel hundreds of miles, or take flights just to follow your club team every other week!

What, you mean like Ireland's Celtic fans ... I mean Celtic's Ireland fans ... I mean ... same thing really! Fact of the matter is thousands upon thousands fly from Dublin to Glasgow each fortnight to watch Celtic, whilst teams like Shamrock Rovers and Bohemians play infront of piss-poor crowds.

A few hours. On the roads in this part of Scotland! :hammer: That'll be right. And long trips in winter, snow, ice, rain anyone?

So the SPL should have given you a phone to make sure the fixture calendar was to your liking should they?

I meant a few hours for the majority of fans that travel to the games and not everyone in bumfuck nowhere.

YES, OF COURSE!

I love you too :-*

Still reckon that Scotland's crazy to be playing such a huige sport in the middle of the freezing cold winter. We should DEFINITELY look to make football a summer sport. It'd mean fewer match-cancellations and smaller travel risks for the fans.

But hey, that's too much like common-sense for the SPL and the SFL

True and its something I'd like to see, but boxing day is hardly in the middle of winter anymore. You'd be lucky to get a sniff of snow on that day, especially the mild winters we've been having in recent times.

List removed as we haven't got final confirmation of our right to post them, will go back up once we've got the documentation!

I've always wonder how much of a hassle is it to get permission to post the fixture list and does it cost much?

Its all ran by a company called footballdataco, set up by the SPL and EPL. The fixtures are copyright to them - strange I know but that is how they make their money.

Posted

There's a big case going on at the moment relating to the copyrighting of fixture lists. The court case argues that without fixture lists the sports of football and horse-racing would cease to exist, as these sports reply primarily on the income generated from fans coming thru the turnstiles. If the fans don't know where to go and when, then these sports would cease to exist. Another issue regarding the copyrighting of fixture lists is that it is against international law to copyright a series of dates placed on a calendar ... essentially what fixture lists are.

However, whilst this case is going on, we are under obligation to pay the copyright holders their due.

During 2nd year at uni we did a module on Professional Issues and half of it was about law.  One of the cases our lecturers mentioned was a case dating back a few decades between the football league and Littlewoods Pools.

Good article here about it - http://football.guardian.co.uk/comment/story/0,,1671699,00.html

Says that the money made from fixture lists accounts for 22% of the yearly revenue for clubs outside the SPL.

As long as someone continues to monitor this so we can post it when its done...

Please?

Don't worry, my Canadian friend! I've been tracking this since mid-February. As soon as we are granted the right to show fixture lists on here (which should be any day now) I shall let everyone know.

Bastard!

Ive got a 25mile mountain walk on the 17th and was looking forward to listening to the celtic game on the final leg. Just typical of them to move it to a sunday instead of a 1230 saturday kick off (like st mirren last season)
