Manager Jimmy Calderwood and assistant Jimmy Nicholl watched the 23-year-old centre back at the Irish Cup final on Saturday at Winsor Park. Coates has been called up for the Northern Ireland squad for their friendly against Italy in Pisa next month. Former Northern Ireland international Nicholl said: “I think probably Coates was the man of the match on Saturday, he had a good game. “It was good to get over and see the final, and it shows Aberdeen are still keeping an interest in Irish League football. “We signed young Sammy Stewart from Glenavon last summer and he has done well, so there is plenty of talent there.†Quote
