Mackie's ace! Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 RedWeb doesn't say about paying at gate - think you might have to go to the ticket office. Quote
CtS Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 See sigma in action here... http://backoffice.afc.co.uk/redweb/redcam/redcam.cfm Having a kick about at the famous Pittodrie stadium. Probably shitting themselves at the prospect of being torn apart by Duff and co. Quote
Jute Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 Apparently MM said in a press conference today that he is more hopeful than positive Diamond will make the game tomorrow. I really hope he makes it, we really need him to be fit for the whole season. What would that leave us with? Foster - holm? - Considine - Mulgrew Being reported on SSN and BBC that only 50-50 chance of making the game. Quote
Ajja Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 Did we not play Foster at CB a few times last season ? Maybe he will do a McNaughton and excel there...... Quote

BigAl Posted July 30, 2009 Report Posted July 30, 2009 Duff - Foster - Considine - Mulgrew. Probably the best available permutation. Imagine leaving Foster at right back and playing Holm in centre of defence with Considine. Hopefully we'll spend so much time in their half that the defence will have a quiet night Quote
CtS Posted July 30, 2009 Report Posted July 30, 2009 Match day - and I can honestly say at this moment in time I have no enthusiasm for tonights game. The kids want to go but quite frankly I can't be arsed. Feel terrible for saying that, I hope as the day goes on I become more interested in this important fixture. But right now I'm about as excited about this game as I am about all our new signings. Can i have some positive vibes please gents, help get me up for this one. Quote
CtS Posted July 30, 2009 Report Posted July 30, 2009 Not really Al. Haven't felt this lethargic about a new campaign for years. Quote

H'min if I can be bothered getting my arse in gear and leaving at 3pm to drive up the road for this, then get your lazy arse into gear and along to Pittodrie tonight loon. Positive enough for you Quote
manc_don Posted July 30, 2009 Report Posted July 30, 2009 Fear not cts, its just pre 12 o clock/lunch blues, once its after lunch time, you'll feel the buzz. I feel exactly the same way as you do, in fact, i've never felt so unexcited for a start of a season and I have no idea why. But, these Euro nights are the ones we always dream about and get excited about. Yes, its not against a big name team, but if successful, who knows where we'll end up. Anything can happen and many a beer shall be drunk! If I was in Scotland, I would be going, no question, first competetive game of the season. Time to get behind our team! COME ON YOU REDS! :ultras: :ultras: Quote
manc_don Posted July 30, 2009 Report Posted July 30, 2009 Stirring stuff manc_don. +1 for effort. I did try, just for you Now enjoy the game! Quote
Tyrant Posted July 30, 2009 Report Posted July 30, 2009 I can honestly say that I'm thoroughly looking forward to tonight's game. Quote
BigAl Posted July 30, 2009 Report Posted July 30, 2009 Not really Al. Haven't felt this lethargic about a new campaign for years. Bizarrely enough I can relate to what you're saying here mate. I've felt bad the past few weeks about my lack of apparent enthusiasm about the forthcoming season. Can't really put my finger on what is driving my mood, but guess the lack of positive activity on signings is largely to do with it. We really are down to the bones here, and really worried that things could get even worse if we fail to over come the Czechs Quote
BobbyBiscuit Posted July 30, 2009 Report Posted July 30, 2009 I've felt apprehensive about the last couple of season's mainly due to how shite we are in the opening weeks of the season. But come this evening the excitement will kick in, no doubt. Quote

Ajja Posted July 30, 2009 Report Posted July 30, 2009 C'mon guys, one of the great things about football and being a passionate supporter is that you get to press the reset button endlessly. If your team loses on Staurday, then there is always next Saturday. If your team signs a player you used to hate, you can now like them. If you have a poor season, there is always the next one. We have a new manager in place now and the reason for that is so he can do something with a squad of players that was not being done. Lets have some enthusiasm that he will be able to do that and at least give it a few games before the doom and gloom settles in over Pittodrie. We need to forget about the lack of signings, its too easy to obsess about the lack of new players coming in. We have to remember that new players are not the panacea we sometime think they are. Its symptomatic of the pressure we all feel that this week we have felt gutted in losing out on a 21 year old guy who has played very few games in the lower levels of French football. Signings for the sake of it will not automatically bring success. Far too often, as we well know, they bring the opposite. We have to believe that with the addition of some fresh youth players to our squad (players we have all agreed look like they have potential) McGhee will mould a team that will play the football we have all been looking for and ultimatley bring results and success. This might not happen tonight, it might come to early, but be confident it will come. Times are tough but we have opportunity here. A new manager, another crack at Europe, a new season is upon us, a great support, a club with personality, history and character. Where else would you rather be ? I'm on the bus from Edinburgh in 5 hours and while I'm 39 years old I will step on that bus with the enthusiasm and excitement of a 17 year old, again, because thats what football does. COYR Quote

boboisared Posted July 30, 2009 Report Posted July 30, 2009 Nicked from the hat. Richard Foster: Aberdeen will play football the right way with Mark McGhee in charge Jul 30 2009 Ian Orr RICKY FOSTER last night put the boot into Jimmy Calderwood when he insisted the football is so much better at Pittodrie now the Tinkerman's gone. The versatile defender infamously branded the former Aberdeen boss stupid in a trainingground bust-up and looked to be on his way out until he apologised for his outburst. Now Foster has had another pop at Calderwood. He has questioned his chopping and changing - and claimed successor Mark McGhee will leave supporters salivating by playing the game the right way. The 23-year-old, who is in McGhee's squad for tonight's first-leg qualifier against Sigma Olomouc, said: "The manager likes to play 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 whereas the old gaffer changed things up a bit more. "If we go with three up top it will be more attacking and excite the fans further. We have played very good football in pre-season and are playing out from the back a lot more. "The mood is really good and we have enjoyed our training. "I am happy to be in the team and wherever the manager likes me to play I will be happy to play there every week and get some consistency. But if guys are playing in the same role every week they become comfortable, more confident and better." Foster is adamant the experience the Dons gained in reaching the UEFA Cup last 32 two years ago will give them an edge against Sigma. He said:"You can't replace the games we had two years ago.The experience and atmosphere of the last run was tremendous and they were the highlights of my career. We went to Madrid to play Atletico and faced Bayern Munich. "These were great nights and fantastic memories. The movement these players have is terrific and it is so hard to track them for the whole 90 minutes. "This year we have an extra qualifying round but we are looking for a positive result to take into the away leg and progress in the tournament. "I haven't heard much about the Czechs but they will be well organised, technically good and able to pass a lot. And I don't know how attack-minded they will be at Pittodrie. "We will have to break them down but we believe we can do that. The only draw we can hope for here is 0-0 which would be the worst- case scenario. We need to win this leg. "However, we need the fans to support us and get us through this tie. Hopefully, with this being the manager's first game here the fans will come out and back him and the players. "We've heard about the financial situation and it means we probably won't get as many players in as the manager had hoped but we all have contracts here so it won't affect us." Defensive linchpin Zander Diamond is expected to pass a late fitness test while Sone Aluko has shrugged off a knock and will start. Quote
CtS Posted July 30, 2009 Report Posted July 30, 2009 Cheers wee toon red and ajja, that's just about done the trick. Just went out and asked the kids if they're still up for Pittodrie and one of them said "Aw do we have to?". I'll get them in to watch that video. Quote
Mackie's ace! Posted July 30, 2009 Report Posted July 30, 2009 I'm unenthused about the game too, which is one of the reasons I'm not going. Although if I had no other commitments I would probably be there regardless. I also have what may be a link that some of you may be interested in, no idea if it'll work or not but if you can't make the match you might want to try... Quote
