stuartmonroe Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 Being rumoured on Aberdeen-mad that Cardiff are about to launch a 700,000 quid bid for Michael Hart. Anyone getting a bit uneasy about all of this? Quote
mizer Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 Get all the bad news out in a couple of days? Lovell will be next then! Quote
NorthernLights Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 Being rumoured on Aberdeen-mad that Cardiff are about to launch a 700,000 quid bid for Michael Hart. Anyone getting a bit uneasy about all of this? For fuck sake. Anderson is a big loss and we could do without losing Hart as well. Mon Aberdeen board/management get our decent players onto longer deals ASAP! Quote
stuartmonroe Posted June 27, 2007 Author Report Posted June 27, 2007 Alright, fair enough, only russell has gone so far, but it ceratinly seems that the club is prepared to let players go for a sniff of some cash....it could yet be the start of some major blood letting down pittodrie way.... Quote
Guest innesciver Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 Wouldn't suprise me. Hart was excellnet last season also. I just can't believe we could lose 2 of the best and consistent players in the team and SPL for £1.7m when Hibs sell Scott Brown for 4.5m. Pretty sickening! Quote
manc_don Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 Couldn't bare it if another decent player left, we are not hibs where they have a wealth of talent through the youth setup. Hopefully we will do soon, but we cannot afford to do this just yet. Wiggy get your finger out and sort this out. Quote
stuartmonroe Posted June 27, 2007 Author Report Posted June 27, 2007 Has it not been the case that for years Aberdeen have been undervaluing players? Motherwell, Hibs and several other clubs have managed to squeeze huge sums of money out of clubs for players certainly not in the class of Russell Anderson. Why is this? Surely another problem is that the board wait until a player is within a year of their contract ending. It means that in six months time the player can start talking to other clubs. why are contract discussions not being put in place perhaps 2 years before the contract ends? Thus, if a player wants to go, players can be found to play in the position, and the player in dispute can be sold for a decent amount of cash. Quote
Guest kilted1 Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 If Hart has more than a year left in his contract I'd demand 1m plus - Anderson had less than a year so it was cash in now but if Hart has multiple years we can hold out for more cash or keep him. Quote
Guest At The Border Guy Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 This offer better not be accepted.... Building up everyones optimism for the first time in years, then smashing it down in a couple of days is not the correct way to go about things in a business. Quote
NPRC Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 The difference between us and Hibs is they get everyone tied up on decent contracts. They've had damn near 10million in transfers in recent years....but they had everyone they sold tied up on 5 year deals. When was the last time an Aberdeen player had a 5 year contract? Quote
stuartmonroe Posted June 27, 2007 Author Report Posted June 27, 2007 How long has Michael Hart's contract to run? Quote
Bobby Peru Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 calm down, dears. it's just a poxy rumour on a barely-moderated mongboard. there's no substance to this. jc has said it's inevitable other teams will start looking at our players after a reasonably successful season. it's only the fact we've been rubbish for years that has meant there's been precious little speculation in seasons gone by. and i'll restate a point i made on the ando thread - we've got tons of defenders at the mo. jackie mac's a better right back than hart anyway. that last point about tying people up on five year contracts is fairly laughable too. what happens if they get injured / turn to sh1te after three months? has it really come to this that we're advocating a return to the jim mclean school of management? Quote
stuartmonroe Posted June 27, 2007 Author Report Posted June 27, 2007 It does seem to be quite a strong rumour that Hart is for the off.... Quote
Guest Johnny Mac Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 Well if he's for the off, lets get another million quid. Mcnamara can cover there, or even Clark. While we're at it, lets punt Byrne for another cool Million Quote
stuartmonroe Posted June 27, 2007 Author Report Posted June 27, 2007 It can create such a bad knock - on effect.... The supporters will be down for the start of the season, and with the club captain gone, it could make it more difficult for guys like Severin to be persuaded to stay. Whether McNamara is better than Hart is not the important thing. It is a squad game and to have both gives Jimmy options and remember that McNamara can operate both on the left and right. Last season we had a settled squad, and we can all just hope that we do not start to see it being dismantled one by one, despite the money being accumulated. Quote
Guest At The Border Guy Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 The thing I'm worried about is that if Hart goes, we start the season with a completely new and unfamiliar defence, and the dodgiest of our dodgy keepers. It hardly fills you with confidence for our Euro games, and if we don't get to the group stage, any debt cleared by these two sales will be piled back onto our balance by the end of the season anyway. Quote
vinny de salvo Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 A £500k bid would be accepted. Quote
glasgow sheep Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 why would Cardiff want Hart? Do they not have McNaughton to play at RB? Better not lose Hart. Anderson I accept, but to lose half our defence, and our two best players from last season would be a huge blow Quote
Drewsome Posted June 29, 2007 Report Posted June 29, 2007 For now I'll make no comment - I opened my big mouth on Ando and he's gone... Quote
