With the Dons European nightmare consigned to history attention turns to the opening day of the SPL and the visit of Celtic. This mouth watering tie sees Mark McGhee and Tony Mowbray go head to head as both men lead their new sides out for their first SPL fixtures. McGhee will be keen to exorcise the European ghost and show the Glasgow club what they missed out on when they appointed Mowbray in the summer. A rain soaked Pittodrie welcomes both teams for this season opener.

McGhee makes two changes from the side that lost in Europe last week as Zander Diamond makes a welcome return and Jerel Ifil makes his debut at the heart of the Dons defence. Considine and Mackie drop to the bench and they are joined by Nelson, Young, Pawlett, Paton and Crawford. The full starting line up is:

Aberdeen Langfield, Mulgrew, Foster, McDonald, Diamond, Ifil, Kerr, Aluko, Miller, Maguire, Duff.

Celtic : Boruc, Hinkel, Nguemo, McDonald, Fortune, Fox, Maloney, Donati, Loovens, McGeady, O'Dea.
