CtS Posted September 1, 2009 Report Posted September 1, 2009 Jesus, look at the squad we're left with. Milne and Miller clearly don't give a fuck about the product on the park, and I have to say I'm starting to share their apathy. Quote

Kowalski Posted September 2, 2009 Report Posted September 2, 2009 A whole lot of nothing on deadline day at Dons frustration in the transfer market as mark McGHEE SEES TARGETS EVAPORATE By paul third Published: 02/09/2009 The cavalry failed to show at Pittodrie yesterday as the transfer window closed with a whimper and no new faces. Aberdeen manager Mark McGhee’s insistence he was weighing up options came to nothing as the 5pm deadline passed. No loans, no short-term deals, no swap moves, no free transfers. Nothing. It was a frustrating day for the Dons manager, who 24 hours earlier had spoken with optimism about his prospects of bringing in new players. But targets evaporated due to them being no longer available or not being of sufficient quality to improve a squad which has been ditched from the Europa League and has won one, drawn one and lost one in the SPL this season. Players had been offered on loan from England and McGhee was also considering offering players in exchange deals. But by the time the window closed, the only new player registered was Faroese youth international Gillie Sorensen – a former Dons youth player. The 17-year-old forward was at Pittodrie last season but was allowed to return to his homeland as he was homesick. However, an agreement was reached for the player to return to the Dons from Faroese side TB Tvoroyrar and the deal was completed yesterday. The return of a former youth player was not what McGhee, or the supporters, will have had in mind, however. Neil McDougall, chairman of the Northern Lights supporters’ club, is backing McGhee’s judgment and believes the manager is right not to make a signing in haste. McDougall said: “It’s Mark’s call. He has said he had to be sure the players he could bring in would be better than what he has at the club and clearly he doesn’t think they are. “From what we have seen so far this season I would continue with the policy of promoting the kids from the youth ranks to the first team as they have been our best performers. “Michael Paton, Peter Pawlett, Fraser Fyvie and Jonathan Crawford have offered us hope with their performances and we must now look to go forward with them playing a bigger role. “I think it will be difficult to expect the four of them to last the whole season playing every week, but it is up to the experienced players at the club now to guide them through. “There is going to be a lot of pressure put on them now and they will need help.†McGhee had hoped to land a right-sided attacking player but will now turn his attentions to free agents. Trialists Rohan Ricketts and Craig Rocastle, who played for the Dons in the 1-0 win in the Dean Windass testimonial at Hull last month, remain possible options. But McGhee will be disappointed at failing to add to his squad yesterday. Sadly, neither the manager not director of football Willie Miller were last night prepared to explain the club’s failure to strengthen. Quote

baggy89 Posted September 2, 2009 Report Posted September 2, 2009 It's OK lads, as the retarded minority who were so keen to shout, at any given opportunity, towards the end of last season "Any idiot could have got a cup win and have third sealed up by Christmas with the same squad Jimmy had". With the God that is Mark McGhee at the helm we'll have the SPL title sorted by XMAS. Giving us 2010 to put all our efforts into winning the Scottish Cup. Stand Free... Quote
Jute Posted September 2, 2009 Report Posted September 2, 2009 Rocastle has signed for Welling United so no longer available. Quote
Drewsome Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 All I can say is that I hope the squad prove is wrong. Quote
