BigAl Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 FFS Reekie as if i wasn't in a bad enough mood already [ first day back to work after a fortnight off ] you have to go and post that ! Amazing how the very mention of alex "fucking" Miller still stirs such strong emotions Going to be a long long day Quote
Reekie_Red Posted November 16, 2009 Author Report Posted November 16, 2009 Interesting reading that article by Spiers on Willie Miller losing the plot, yet the Dons fans still adore him. He put it perfectly when he said Willie will forever be remembered as the inspirational captain of the greatest ever Dons side. In the same light, Alex Miller will (regardless of what he does in life) always be remembered by Dons fans as the man who singlehandedly did the most intentional damage to Aberdeen Football Club in the club's history (I say intentionally cos Aitken and Paterson simply didnae hae a fuckin clue what they were doing). Lest we forget! Quote
baggy89 Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 Black Tuesday - The single most destructive date in Aberdeen's history. Quote
Tyrant Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 I'm in a stinker of a mood too. Not liking my new job all that much and I'm losing patience with folk and their stupidity.. and now this!!!! FFS fuck sake!! Quote
Kowalski Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 Is it not spelled "Burkinshaw"? Quote
BigAl Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 Is it not spelled "Burkinshaw"? Mildly pedantic, but correct nonetheless Quote
Slim Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 If only the internet was as widely used back then. Can you imagine the level of backlash there would have been in those 5 days? We might have been spared the useless cunt. Quote
BobbyBiscuit Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 I remember hearing he news when I came out of a lecture in Uni... felt like crying. That feeling stayed with me for most of the useless cunts tenure. He was a big reason why Ebbe was so popular, in my opinion. People were just delighted he wasn't Alex Fucking Miller. The only thing he ever did for us was getting comically injured in the run up to Strachan's goal in the 82 Cup Final. Quote
minijc Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 He left, Aberdeen go on a poor run, only the last 5 years have we recovered, Miller went on to win the championsleague. Quote
BobbyBiscuit Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 You conveniently left out the fact we were on a horrific run while he was with us. He happened to put out the training cones for the team who happened to win the CL one year. Amazing how you're the only one here who is implying you think he is in anyway a decent football coach, but of course you're not fishing. In over 500 matches with Hibs, he won less than 100 of them. He went on to win the CL as a no.2 (how apt) at Liverpool. Neither of these stats have ever had any bearing on the job he did at Aberdeen. That cunt ripped the soul out of our club and took the piss out of us on a grand scale.. but yeah, you're right, we're all wrong and you're not fishing. Quote

minijc Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 Haha I wasn't interested in ABerdeen when he was incharge, I started watching football when Ebbe came, so I don't really have an opinion on Miller. Quote

Have I missed something? That's twice in this thread alone someone has said Miller deliberately damaged the Dons. Can someone enlighten me? Quote
BigAl Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 I just wanted to hear more about him, thought I'd doing in my usual boring and predictable way Relly not a very good idea Niall, feelings run high on this subject. Trust me if you'd been around in those days you'd have been trampled in the stampede against Miller Quote
baggy89 Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 I just don't think anyone could believe the shambles he turned the club into in such a short space of time. It was a fair while ago but I still remember being convinced it was a deliberate attempt to destroy us from within. Perhaps it was because there was a genuine dislike for the guy before he was given the job and that just intensified after the awful performances, awful results and awful transfer policy. One bad signing or decision to let a decent player go you could forgive, but to do it over and over again in such quick succession beggared belief. I also have it in my head that on several occasions prior to being our manager he had made it quite clear how much he disliked us, but I could be doing him a disservice?? Quote
DerBomber Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 Fuck Alex Miller and the fucking horse he rode in on. Anything he touched turned to absolute shit for us. I hate the man. With a passion. Billy Dodds AND £700,000 for Robbie winters still ranks as one of the worst transfers in the history of world football. Dodds scored 25 goals in 45 for ushited before being flogged to the huns for 1.3 million. Winters was piss compared to him and everyone except for Alex "cunt face" Miller could see that as well. That was transfer was deliberate and was fucking woeful. Quote
BigAl Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 Miller's AFC record P W L D Aberdeen 21-11-1997 08-12-1998 43 11 19 13 Nae a happy time Was responsible for pissing away £700k on Robbie Winters and throwing Billy Dodds into the mix Ooopps, Der bomber beat me to the Dodds story. Anyone got any good memories of Alex Miller Quote

Winters wasn't a bad player for us, not worth £700k but that wasn't Winters' fault. This is always the transfer that is held up against Miller, I'd say letting Windass go for half of what we bought him for and replacing him with Nigel Pepper was far more criminal. Quote

The Dodds/Winters transfer was the Eto'o/Ibrahimovic transfer of its day. Winters turned out to be not too bad a player for us, but the finances of the deal were shocking. Quote

Winters cost us more than 700k when you think of what Dodds went to Rangers for. Making Winters technically a 2m player. Nigel Pepper was terrible, remember when he got sent off for his 1st tackle when he came on as a sub. Quote
DerBomber Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 Anyone got any good memories of Alex Miller 8th of december 1998. The day the fuckwit quit. Good call BobbyBiscuit. Millers whole transfer policy seemed to be "he looks okay. Right sell him for fuck all and buy someone who is so fucking shit they would struggle to get a game for Cove Rangers." Quote
