dave_min Posted December 28, 2009 Report Posted December 28, 2009 There's absolutely no chance this game is gonna go ahead. Zero. Pavements in Aberdeen are utterly shite. I'm quite glad though, i've got a prior commitment tomorrow night. Quote
Kowalski Posted December 28, 2009 Report Posted December 28, 2009 Just got a text from someone saying game is in doubt. Nothing on Redweb about it. Quote
Stewart Posted December 28, 2009 Report Posted December 28, 2009 Apparently the South Stand is very icey. Quote
BobbyBiscuit Posted December 28, 2009 Report Posted December 28, 2009 even if this game was playable, why could it not have been played today when most folk are off work? Quote
dave_min Posted December 29, 2009 Author Report Posted December 29, 2009 even if this game was playable, why could it not have been played today when most folk are off work? Game is playable. It's the fine city of Aberdeen that is un-walkable Quote
BobbyBiscuit Posted December 29, 2009 Report Posted December 29, 2009 Think you missed my point Dave! Quote
BobbyBiscuit Posted December 29, 2009 Report Posted December 29, 2009 inspection at noon apparently. Team news from BBC: Aberdeen manager Mark McGhee says it is "touch and go" whether defender Maurice Ross will be fit enough to face Falkirk in Tuesday's match at Pittodrie. While Jerel Ifil returns from suspension, Lee Miller is now banned, while Sone Aluko and Zander Diamond are still missing through injury. Jackie McNamara, out through injury since October, could make the Falkirk substitute's bench. But Tam Scobbie, Mark Stewart and Sean Lynch remain sidelined. Aberdeen (from): Langfield, Considine, Ifil, Mulgrew, Foster, Young, Kerr, Wright, McDonald, Pawlett, Paton, Fyvie, Crawford, Maguire, Grassi, Mackie, Ross, Nelson. Falkirk (from): Olejnik, Barr, McLean, Monteiro, Twaddle, Arfield, Lima, Zerara, Flynn, Finnigan, Moutinho, Wagenaar, Mitchell, Allison, McNamara, O'Brien, Bullen, Marceta. Quote

manc_don Posted December 29, 2009 Report Posted December 29, 2009 Excuse my ignorance, but why couldn't they grit the paths surrounding the stadium in advance? Quote
BigAl Posted December 29, 2009 Report Posted December 29, 2009 http://www.afc.premiumtv.co.uk/articles/aberdeen-v-falkirk-20091229_2212158_1917678 Aye, just seen it. Second time in four days that polis have called off our games then Quote
Penfold Posted December 29, 2009 Report Posted December 29, 2009 Excuse my ignorance, but why couldn't they grit the paths surrounding the stadium in advance? It's a disgrace. The council went over the pavements last week but all they did was skim the top off and leave compacted snow which with the cold has turned to ice. It snowed a bit last night but none before that for ages. No excuses for not having the pavements cleared for the game today. I hope the club had pushed them to get it sorted before yesterday! When are the police closing Union Street? Loads more folk travelling to there. Quote
BigAl Posted December 29, 2009 Report Posted December 29, 2009 Its pretty much every man for themself up here, if you want your street cleared, you gotta do it yourself. Its shite. They will however be looking after council tax payers first. Work shy students are rightly excluded Dave Quote
manc_don Posted December 29, 2009 Report Posted December 29, 2009 Take it you've not been in Aberdeen then manc! It last snowed up here 6 days ago yet the council have only managed to grit Union St, King St and outside their own buildings. Its pretty much every man for themself up here, if you want your street cleared, you gotta do it yourself. Its shite. I've not been to Aberdeen for a while I would have thought though, since the city gets snow on an yearly basis, that it should be prepared? Quote

Kowalski Posted December 29, 2009 Report Posted December 29, 2009 Definitely the council's fault if the game is off due to the icy pavements. Can't say I'm too bothered as its baltic in Aberdeen! Quote
minijc Posted December 29, 2009 Report Posted December 29, 2009 Definitely the council's fault if the game is off due to the icy pavements. Can't say I'm too bothered as its baltic in Aberdeen! Some stands are apparently bad with ice aswell. Quote
Goldie03 Posted December 29, 2009 Report Posted December 29, 2009 I honestly haven't seen one single pavement that has been gritted anywhere in Edinburgh - councils obviously not spending any money on it at all I checked the weather this morning for Saturday and it looks ok at the moment Quote
Ptayles Posted December 29, 2009 Report Posted December 29, 2009 Its a bit of a joke...You think the council would grit some pavements near the ground but on a positive note, fresh for united on Saturday Quote
Kowalski Posted December 29, 2009 Report Posted December 29, 2009 Its a bit of a joke...You think the council would grit some pavements near the ground but on a positive note, fresh for united on Saturday Fair chance that game will be off too. Quote
Jute Posted December 29, 2009 Report Posted December 29, 2009 Arabs game against Killie was on Saturday and from what I saw of Dundee at the weekend (admitidly was not up near Tanadice) most of the pavements and roads were pretty clear so cannot see game being off. Quote
maverick sheep Posted December 29, 2009 Report Posted December 29, 2009 Makes the decision to call the helen game off at 1pm all the more ridiculous. Surprised nobody has officially complained about that. Quote
glasgow sheep Posted December 29, 2009 Report Posted December 29, 2009 Strange how shops are never ordered to close due to icy roads and pavements....... Quote
