CtS Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 I'm going to fucking Murrayfield that day. But I suppose a boozy afternoon in an Edinburgh bar waiting for news of a dons victory, prior to watching Scotland win the Calcutta cup, isn't a bad way to spend a Saturday. Quote
Mentorred Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 I see Hibs got their usual easy draw Quote
tsr Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 Indeed, no doubt they'll get us in the semi's! Quote
mizer Posted February 15, 2010 Report Posted February 15, 2010 http://www.afc.premiumtv.co.uk/articles/20100215/active-nation-scottish-cup-5th-round-replay_2212158_1966755 Mark McGhee spoke to RedTV at lunchtime. He started by giving the team news. "There are no injuries from the weekend. Everyone trained this morning. We have drafted in young Mitch Megginson." Mitch was in action yesterday and scored the only goal of the game as a young Aberdeen XI beat Buckie Thistle 1-0. Stuart Nelson also played and had another shut out. He has still to concede a goal for Aberdeen! Mark then reflected on the 4-4 draw with Celrtic before looking ahead to tomorrow night's game. "I was very pleased with the game on Saturday. "I tell the players you need to be first to every ball. To compete for every ball. To never give up. To chase every lost cause even if there is a bad pass. I think that was all there on Saturday. That was the starting point and on top of that we played well. "The fans were a huge part of why we were able to get back into the game on Saturday. Even when we went 4-2 down I did not detect any negativity. I was standing watching it and wondering how we could be 4-2 down and I think they were thinking the same. And a lot of them like me believed we could still get something out of the game. "There will not be as many fans here tomorrow as there was on Saturday and we need to start strongly but hopefully if that happens they can have an enjoyable night. "We go into the game tomorrow night as favourites. If we had not scored the late goal at Raith, then had the performance at Hibs, then the performance on Saturday, the favourite tag would be weighing heavy on us. But given how it has been these last few games I think we should go into the game with confidence knowing that if we start, with that attitude then the likely hood is that we will start well and get the opening goal and then put pressure on Raith. Mark McGhee "We can't have any fear over the game because of what has happened historically. Hopefully that moment in the first game when we got the late equaliser will be the turning point in all of that. "I hope the consistency of performances is now coming. I thought after the Hearts and Dundee United wins it was happening then so I am not going to get ahead of myself. When we have had eight games or ten games with that sort of performance then I will believe that is true. At the moment I am taking nothing for granted "I am going to be in the dressing room before Tuesday night and tell the players I want the same kind of performance. I do think the players have the bit between their teeth so I think they will go and start well. I know it will not be an easy game though. Raith played very well in the first game and I expect them to play well again. I had Raith Rovers watched on Saturday. Although Inverness CT went on to win 4-0 it did not reflect the way the game went. The report says that they did not lose the first goal until the 67th minute or something and they were hard done by as it was an even game. There was also a few guys not playing who might be back tomorrow night. The manager was understandably asked about the performance of Steven MacLean on Saturday. As well as scoring two goals he was outstanding throughout the 90 minutes. "I hope Steve is going to score goals but with the way we play we need someone that can develop the play for us, can give us time to get the midfield forward, the get the back four out in a nice tidy shape and have the chance to re-group and a player like Steve does that for you. He has that extra touch and he nurses the ball. Sometimes people think he spends too long on the ball but I don't think he does. He gives players time to get into position and to get around him. It is an essential part for any team that wants to pass the ball. I think he does it brilliantly and hopefully he will continue to do it. http://www.afc.premiumtv.co.uk/javaImages/4d/11/0,,10284~8589645,00.jpg[/img] Sone nae looking too happy with the weather http://www.afc.premiumtv.co.uk/javaImages/4b/11/0,,10284~8589643,00.jpg[/img] Another Bez photoshop?
