redbush Posted February 25, 2010 Report Posted February 25, 2010 Donald Trump is still encountering many problems with his plans for the area so maybe he'd be interested in investing in Aberdeen Football Club. Perhaps he could throw some money in build us a new stadium or both. You just never know. Quote
tom_widdows Posted February 25, 2010 Report Posted February 25, 2010 Yes because we all know that if the North east locals see old Donald piling cash into the football team they will immedietly drop all opposition to him destroying an area of natural beauty. You dont get rich like trump for throwing money away for absolutely no benefit whatsoever. Quote

BobbyBiscuit Posted February 25, 2010 Report Posted February 25, 2010 I think Mr Trump would have a bit of an issue investing in something where the current custodian - also a multi millionaire - refuses to invest in the same venture and has refused to do so for many years now. Quote
dickofthedons Posted February 25, 2010 Report Posted February 25, 2010 Donald Trump to the rescue? To answer your question, no. Has anything other than the fact that he wants to build a golf course in the area and he has money occured? Any subtle hints in one of his quotes? Any enquiries? Any contact? Any links? Or you just adding 2 and 2 and getting 3248 coz it'd nice to use his money to improve out team? Quote
mizer Posted February 25, 2010 Report Posted February 25, 2010 Trump would only put money in if he thought he could get money. If was looking to buy a football team he would not look to Scotland. The fake Scottishness he has portrayed over the last few years is sickening and totally for PR and PR for his new venture. He is a sycophant who cant have a building or property he owns not emblazoned with his own surname. On the slightest chance that he ever thought for a second of investing in AFC, his preamble would be to rename the club The Trump Soccer Franchise - Scotchland or some other ludicrous name and change our strips to the Trump tartan. El Padre™ Posted February 26, 2010 Report Posted February 26, 2010 Ok, what about the queen? She has loads of dosh and could do with a popularity boost in the north east. Quote

Slim Posted February 26, 2010 Report Posted February 26, 2010 I'm all for him building his golf course, but I want him absolutely nowhere near AFC. Quote
Kowalski Posted February 26, 2010 Report Posted February 26, 2010 I'm all for him building his golf course, but I would be indifferent to him getting involved in AFC. He won't anyway, he's not stupid. Quote
Ptayles Posted February 26, 2010 Report Posted February 26, 2010 But would Stewart Milne not pull a few strings and offer to build houses on the golf course? Quote
Sandaldinho Posted February 26, 2010 Report Posted February 26, 2010 Trump may be a bit of a tit but he ain't that stupid! Quote
stubo72 Posted February 26, 2010 Report Posted February 26, 2010 Mr Trump isn't really interested in investing/wasting his own money on anything. What he tends to do is to get some other muggins (banks/businesses/tv companies/actual rich dudes) to invest the money in his ideas and if it goes well, then everyone stands to make a fortune - but if it doesnae, it tends to be the other daft bastard that loses their investment whilst DT keeps himself well insulated. They quite often go quite badly... http://www.legalzoom.com/legal-headlines/celebrity-lawsuits/how-does-trump-repeatedly-file http://www.legalzoom.com/lawsuits-settlements/more-litigation/donald-trumps-casino-company-files The idea therefore, that he would piss his own money away on a football team he knows nothing about and cares less about, is laughable in the extreme. Estimates of his personal wealth actually vary wildly - with some claiming he is worth pretty much hee-haw (and is in fact in debt up to his eye-balls) and himself claiming to be a billionaire just because he thinks he is one... http://nymag.com/daily/intel/2009/05/donald_trump.html http://open.salon.com/blog/saturn_smith/2009/05/18/what_exactly_is_donald_trump_worth Quote
nellie_boy Posted February 26, 2010 Report Posted February 26, 2010 all councils are bent and Aberdeen is bust just now the very least the Trump should be told is that if he paid for the new community stadium then his plans for the huge development will be looked on more favourably what's another 30m when you're looking at the costs he already has? Ajja Posted February 26, 2010 Report Posted February 26, 2010 Maybe they can swap stories about utterly ludicrous hair dos and then trumps wallet will just fall open in a big love fest. FFS. Quote

Read this thread as had jotted down something Trump said on Apprentice USA ... tom_widdows Posted February 28, 2010 Report Posted February 28, 2010 on a slightly different note, talking about investment, has anyone in the oil industry EVER invested in Aberdeen? Apparenlty it was offered back in the early 80s but the old Donald family essentially told them to fuck off because football sponsorship by independant companies was a ridiculous idea If this is indeed true then it ranks up with the Ayr united board of the mid 80s telling an up and coming business man with the surname Murray to fuck off for similar reasons. So he promptly did to his second choice down Govan way. Only chance of an oil company investing in this club is if they need the land in and around pittodrie to build a new refinery all councils are bent and Aberdeen is bust just now the very least the Trump should be told is that if he paid for the new community stadium then his plans for the huge development will be looked on more favourably Why would ABERDEEN-SHIRE COUNCIL see a stadium being built in the ABERDEEN CITY COUNCIL jurisdiction as any kind of compromise to fucking up Balmedie? Shell wanted to sponsor us and Chris Anderson actively encouraged it but Dick Donald didn't want their name on the front of our shirts (or anyone's name, for that matter). So he compromised with Anderson and let our training tops be sponsored by Hydrasun. Good move, Dick! Quote
