McDonald injury blow for Aberdeen FC

Midfielder could be out ‘for weeks’

Published: 17/03/2010

ABERDEEN FC fear midfielder Gary McDonald could be sidelined for the rest of the season by a hamstring injury.

McDonald limped out of their 1-0 defeat by St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park after just 35 minutes.

Manager Mark McGhee admitted it’s likely McDonald will be sidelined for “several weeks†although that can’t be confirmed until the injury has been scanned and the results assessed by the club doctor.

McGhee said: “It looks as if the injury could be a bad one, which is a blow to us and Gary.â€

Celebrating player injuries.

Classy.

I don't like him either but get a grip.

C'mon he's been crying out to be dropped, so seeing as McGhee won't do it, the decision has been taken away from him.

Don't know if any of you are on Facebook but I have been reading the comments on the AFC page. Some are laughable, of course some could be fishing. Someone even calls for Gary Mcdonald to be made captain when he is fit again.

So we replace MacDonald with Young or some other shite?

Doesn't appear to be much of a silver lining there?

Young > McDonald.

I don't get this agenda against Young.

Young's rubbish, its not an agenda. That McDonald plays before Young isn't some kind of agenda its because Young is that bad. I'm with ally s on this one.

Aberdeen midfielder Gary McDonald will continue to play a part for the Dons this season after a scan revealed his hamstring injury is not as bad as first feared.

The 27-year-old midfielder limped off in the first half of Aberdeen’s 1-0 defeat at St Johnstone on Tuesday.

There were concerns the former Kilmarnock player, who is out of contract in the summer, had torn the muscle, which could have ended his campaign early.

That has not been the case and, although he will miss tomorrow’s SPL visit of Dundee United, he could be available for next week’s match against St Mirren.
