mizer Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 http://www.afc.co.uk/articles/20100322/dons-dismay-at-sunday-service_2212158_2002053 Aberdeen Football Club Managing Director, Duncan Fraser, has expressed his disappointment over the change of date and time for the forthcoming St Johnstone home game. The match has been moved back 24 hours to accommodate live TV and will now take place on Sunday 11th April at 12.15. He said: "At the time when the current live television deals were negotiated we expressed concern that sixty live games, with potentially six live home games per non Old Firm club was too many. "We believed clubs like ourselves, Hibernian, Hearts and Dundee United would be particularly affected by this and that has proved to be the case. "After the collapse of Setanta and, the subsequent reduced television deal, we had hoped that we would be able to lessen the number of live fixtures. Thus trying to compensate for the considerable fall in value on the deal and to attempt to balance the impact on attendances, getting back where we could to Saturday afternoon kick offs. Unfortunately the SPL was not in a position to achieve this. "We fully appreciate and understand the contribution that our broadcast partners bring to the game in Scotland and we are all extremely grateful for this. "However, at a time when average attendances across the SPL are down it is understandable that fans get frustrated at the amount of time and date changes, and this just adds to the level of discontent. "We hope when the next television contract is tendered the mix of games and packages offered can add value but reflects the need to consider the fans who are, after all, the lifeblood of our game. Live football in front of poor crowds does absolutely nothing to enhance the product." Rewarding the Red Army Aberdeen FC have today decided to slash ticket prices for the St Johnstone match in an attempt to reward the Red Army for their loyal support. All home tickets for the match will be reduced by 50%. Also, as a big thank you to current SEASON TICKET holders. They will have the opportunity to bring along a friend for FREE to one of the home post split SPL fixtures (match to be confirmed). Duncan Fraser commented: "Given this latest change the club will run the same 50 per cent discount offer for St Johnstone as we did for the Kilmarnock game in January. "Furthermore, to thank our season ticket holders we are offering the chance to bring along a friend for free at a post split home SPL game. Once these fixtures have been confirmed we will announce the match this offer applies to. "I would like to thank all of the Red Army for their continued and unwavering support of Aberdeen Football Club." Quote

dave_min Posted March 23, 2010 Report Posted March 23, 2010 Bring a freind for free. How does that benefit me? Ex-Season Ticket holder gets in for free? Thats a promotion I like the sound of. Quote
tsr Posted March 24, 2010 Report Posted March 24, 2010 Bring a freind for free. How does that benefit me? Club have to do something to attract folk and realise season ticket holders are probably getting pretty fed up. What can the club really do other than the promotion they have offered though? Quote

Mentorred Posted March 24, 2010 Report Posted March 24, 2010 Aberdeen maybe trying to confuse Saint Johnstone so they don't show up and we get awarded a 3-0 victory. Quote
Jute Posted March 24, 2010 Report Posted March 24, 2010 Do you mean 3pm on Sunday? Not sure what they mean. There is a small paragraph about Aberdeen on pg 47 of the Retard and last couple of lines say "Meanwhile TV's ESPN denied they changed the kick-off for the Dons v St Johnstone clash on April 11."
