What utter cunts:

CELTIC have threatened to withdraw all co-operation with Sky over plans to change SPL voting.

Record Sport understands the champions-elect may refuse to work with the TV giant ahead of this weekend’s Old Firm match, barring the bare minimum required under SPL rules.

The threat is in response to the resolution presented last Friday by the 10 clubs outwith the Old Firm aimed at ripping up the league voting structure.

With Rangers plunged in administration, the SPL 10 want change but Celtic disagree.

And yesterday they told SPL chief executive Neil Doncaster they will continue their stance until the 10 ditch the proposals.

The SPL recently agreed a five-year, £80million extension to their TV contract which will kick in this August and run until the summer of 2017.

Ironically, Celtic boss Neil Lennon was a pundit for Sky at last night’s St Mirren v Hearts clash but the threat to withhold access ahead of Sunday’s Old Firm derby is real and sources inside the SPL fear for the future of the new deal.

It is understood Celtic have spoken with Sky but the move has outraged the non-Old Firm chairmen.

The 10 signed up to a document put before the SPL board asking for a resolution to be discussed at next month’s meeting of all clubs.

The SPL clubs believe the 11-1 majority required for any kind of structural change is undemocratic, allowing the Old Firm a stranglehold on the game.

A source within the 10 said: “We have 10 clubs trying to make the league more democratic and one trying to dictate their agenda to everyone.

“But Celtic know without Sky money, every club in the league is up the creek.”

A Celtic spokesperson said: “We are sure all supporters would regard these attempts to create division and uncertainty as very concerning, particularly given the current state of the game in Scotland.

Go fuck off somewhere else then.....

Oh no, hud on a minute

They've tried that, no fucker wants them ;)

Just out of curiousity, given how Orish they seem to think they are, why don't they fuck off and play in the Emerald Isle

until that celtic story appears on the bbc my cynical mind is 'Glasgow media looking after their own'

Celtic pull out of the sky tv deal then yes alot of the spl are in trouble

However I believe the flip side of this latest development is if celtic want to broker a deal for their own tv rights (their own satellite channel etc) they must obtain permission from the opposition to cover these matches. Like it or not Aberdeen FC, Kilmarnock FC, Dundee United FC etc are covered by copyright and require a fee for their brand to be shown in the media.

Plus no tv deal means saturday 3pm kick offs (or sunday 3pm if theres european games) and only cup finals can be legally televised at that time in the UK.

Celtics wage bill alone means they need the sky/ espn millions just as much if not more than the other clubs

But I predict as usual the other teams will bow down because they cant imagine having to rely on fans and local sponsorship for their cash

I missed that. wtf does that mean?

And was he not boasting the other day about not needing Rangers?

And do SKY really care how the money is shared around the 12 member clubs or how the voting structure is organised?

Cunt is too mild a word.

In short then. the face of Celtic is saying they're happy with league reconstruction as long as they get their way and choice of what that looks like..... nothings changed then, they can still just fuck off :wanker:

surely this is great news - so long as the 10 chairmen stick together and don't cave in.

call their bluff and let the tv deal fail, resign from the league, go it alone and invite all other scottish clubs to join the league on terms decided by the majority of founder members. Secure a new tv deal with sky or elsewhere, for less money in total, but surely no less money per club than it is now with those greedy robbing parasites.

Even if it came to having a year of friendlies to get gate receipts, with no 'official' fixtures, and all senior players released, I'd rather take that, then start again - signing players in line with the budget any new tv deal afforded. In the medium to long term, surely* that would be better for the club(s).

* of course the ransom/debt milne has against us would mean either he make the payments himself, or any friendlies get big enough crowds to manage the debt.

So they haven't threatened to withdraw all co-operation, because they can't.

And how does doing the bare minimum required under the rules threaten the future of the current deal? Sky might not be happy but they can't pull out of the deal if the SPL/Celtic continue to adhere to the terms.

The BBC is just as bad at reporting all this shite as any of the tabloids. They are continually putting out stories like this to support the "Scotland needs the Old Firm" shite. They continually report that the TV deal requires 4 OF matches even after the SPL have admitted this was a lie.

Are they not in the huff with the TV anyway? Sounds to me like thay re not talking to sky so it must be because of the other clubs!!

Ok this might be a bit back of the envelope and correct me if I have the figures wrong.

Current split of TV money:

1st - 4% + 13% = 17%

2nd - 4% + 11% = 15%

3rd - 4% + 5.5% = 9.5%

4th - 4% + 4.5% = 8.5%

5th - 4% + 4.0% = 8.0%

6th - 4% + 3.5% = 7.5%

7th - 4% + 3.0% = 7.0%

8th - 4% + 2.5% = 6.5%

9th - 4% + 2.0% = 6.0%

10th - 4% + 1.5% = 5.5%

11th - 4% + 1.0% = 5.0%

12th - 4% + 0.5% = 4.5%

New Deal £80M over 5 years so £16M per year

Currently Rantic (1st and 2nd) get 32% which is £5.12M per year leaving "The 10" with £10.88M

So what we are asking I suppose is could "The 10" get anywhere near c£10M per year from TV?

League of Ireland: The 10 clubs competing in the Premier Division received an equal share payment of €20,000 during the 2009 season, while an additional €35,000 was set aside to compensate clubs with six or more fixtures selected for live television broadcast, or four or more live television fixtures held on nights other than Friday

Rugby League Super League: Live Super League broadcasts regularly rank amongst the top 10 most watched programmes in a week on Sky Sports with in excess of 250,000 viewers. £90M over 5 years

Danish League (smaller average attendances, no idea what time period the deal is for) The deal amounted to DKK 1,062,300,000[5] (USD 210 million, EUR 140 million),[6] effective from the 2009–10 season.

Rangers are to join forces with Celtic in blocking any move to change the current voting structure in the Scottish Premier League.

BBC Scotland has learned that administrator Duff & Phelps will, along with Celtic, vote against changes proposed by the other 10 clubs.

Celtic had already expressed their opposition to a proposed change to the voting system.

The 10 want the 11-1 majority required for major changes reduced to 9-3.

Now Rangers' administrator will also refuse to back a change as it views it as being detrimental to the club's creditors - and to any potential buyers of the club.

The 12 SPL clubs are to meet to discuss the proposal on 12 April, with the 10 clubs unhappy that the Glasgow's Old Firm duo effectively hold a veto should they vote together.

Kilmarnock chairman Michael Johnston on Saturday told BBC Scotland that the 10 other clubs hoped to persuade Rangers to vote for change.

He suggested that Rangers' administrator might require the support of the other 10 clubs in the future as it sought to resolve the club's financial problems.

Johnston thought that the administrator might wish to take a broader "public interest" stance as it attempted to gain support from the public, other clubs and Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs as the club's battle against a major tax bill progresses through the courts.

10 spl clubs should resign from the league, join forces with the 10 1st division clubs, play them home and away, 38 games, no split, increased chance of success, renewed interest for the fans, no more Old Firm and associated baggage.

Fuck 'em.

I agree completely but they don't have the backbone to do it.

I would have no interest in that set up as it would exclude fair number of clubs not just  the old firm.

The major flaw with the current set up is that it has been set up for the good of a few clubs and not all clubs in Scotland. If 10 were to resign it would need to be to go back in to the SFL.

Err, it would be excluding only the OF so who are the others to whom you make reference?

CTS talks about joining with 10 1st division clubs and makes no mention of clubs in 2nd or 3rd divisions.

I'm pretty sure that promotion and relegation would have been factored in to his model.

You obviously assumed he meant 20 clubs and 20 clubs only, for eternity, ad nauseum. That was a dumb assumption.
