glasgowdon Posted April 17, 2010 Report Posted April 17, 2010 Big dirty bastard is something we're needing. Perfect player for Bebo/Paton to play with in my opinion. Quote
Ptayles Posted April 17, 2010 Report Posted April 17, 2010 I would rather take Showumni from Falkirk Quote
manc_don Posted April 17, 2010 Report Posted April 17, 2010 What gd said. Not the ideal player but what the hell else can we afford? Like us to get the morrocan taoil? From them too. Quote
El Padre™ Posted April 17, 2010 Author Report Posted April 17, 2010 I would rather take Showumni from Falkirk He was abysmal today, one of the clumsiest players I've ever seen. Quote

mizer Posted April 17, 2010 Report Posted April 17, 2010 He was abysmal today, one of the clumsiest players I've ever seen. He was doing ok until Duff Man nailed him into the asphalt at the side of the pitch then he dissapeared. One of the few moments of enjoyment at the game. Quote
Penfold Posted April 17, 2010 Report Posted April 17, 2010 We could do a lot worse than Kyle, but we'd still need to address the problem of service to the strikers to make it worthwhile. Quote
Sandaldinho Posted April 17, 2010 Report Posted April 17, 2010 i'd take him to be honest, we could do alot worse. Quote

redordead Posted April 18, 2010 Report Posted April 18, 2010 I reckon if Mclean stays he'd score a load from the problems kyle would cause defences (mclean is a poacher but currently the ball's never in the box ), I like kyle and think an experienced front 2 would do us the world of good. we could cause serious problems to teams with our youngsters flooding into the box behind that pairing. p.s Kerr wouldn't be my holding choice but could do worse Quote

Are they going to spend next season toiling in midfield? Not that I'm against it but I really want to see Maguire and Paton mature next season in positions that they're comfortable in. If kerr would just opt for a sideways pass more often than not he would be a cracking holding midfielder. Quote
Kowalski Posted April 19, 2010 Report Posted April 19, 2010 Seeing as we continue to play long balls up to small strikers, we definitely need somebody in with a bit of height up front. Or alternatively change our style of play... Quote
tsr Posted April 19, 2010 Report Posted April 19, 2010 Kyle/MacLean would/could be a potentially decent partnership. That said I doubt long term we could afford MacLean? I think the question about Paton/Maguire is answered by McGhee's attempts to loan both of them out. Personally i'm not fussed if Maguire returns or not, Paton is sometimes really good but overall I am still waiting for a major burst of form from him. Quote
Jute Posted April 19, 2010 Report Posted April 19, 2010 Jefferies supposed to have offered terms to Kyle to go to diet huns so if true that rules us out. Not keen anyway. Quote

No real surprise if true, there always real possibility of this. It could however just be cheap journalism coming up with this. Quote
daytripping Posted April 19, 2010 Report Posted April 19, 2010 No from me, I'd like to see Paton and Maguire getting a real run in the first team, with Pawlett back the service will be much better than at present, throw in Fyvie and that's four players who should be starting most games next term We need a couple of Roughvie/Simpson types to offer the young lads some protection. Paton at 5' 10" and Maguire at 5' 8" offer no height and very little physical presence to be an effective SPL forward pairing. Quote
daytripping Posted April 19, 2010 Report Posted April 19, 2010 Speed and skill with the ball played on the deck wins the day in the SPL, we've always got Diamond for the set pieces. Quote
Kowalski Posted April 19, 2010 Report Posted April 19, 2010 Paton and Maguire are a couple of headless chickens. They need somebody to play off. Quote

SunSport revealed on Saturday the Killie striker was top of his striking wanted list. It's understood talks between the pair are ongoing as McGhee begins his overhaul of the under-achieving Dons squad. McGhee also wants to keep Steven MacLean, who he feels would flourish alongside Kyle. That would require Plymouth to pay up for the last year of his contract. McGhee said: "Steven can do a great job with the right striker there with him. "That would be a player like Kevin Kyle who is still on my radar and is on a list of suitable candidates. "However, at this moment I cannot say that Kyle is coming to Aberdeen. MacLean is definitely an option for next season too." Inverness pair Adam Rooney and Richie Foran are also targets. Saturday's victory over Falkirk virtually guaranteed the Dons' SPL safety. But director of football Willie Miller said: "There are guys fighting for contracts and others who, if they want a move, have to convince other clubs they're good enough." Quote
