New signing Derek Young will play his first match since returning to the club and the Dons have a Trialist keeper on the bench. Inverurie field ex-Dons Murray McCulloch and Scott Michie. The full team for tonight is: Kelly, McVitie, D. Smith, Kurrant, Strachan, Touzani, Paton, Young, Brewster, Maguire, S. Smith. Subs: Trialist (GK), Crawford, Lamberty, Ross, Skinner. Quote

The Dons should have gone ahead in the 11th minute when a clever free kick from Maguire found Brewster unmarked at the far post. Unfortunately the veteran striker headed wide, but three minutes later the Dons then went in front. Maguire was pulled down outside the box and the youngster dusted himself down and hit a right-footed shot into the top left hand corner of the net. Inverurie are a decent side and they rallied well forcing Kelly into a fine save and flashing a header inches wide from a corner kick. However it was the Dons who doubled their advantage in the 25th minute. Maguire went on a run into the Locos box but lost possession and as the ball broke to Kurrant on the edge of the box he swept it into the net with the side of his foot. Six minutes later Kurrant released Brewster and his cross from the left was controlled by Maguire and fired home for a 3-0 advantage. Maguire headed a Smith cross over the bar two minutes later as he chased his hat trick and the keeper did well to deny Kurrant in the 39th minute. The Dons finished the half on top and had produced a fine performance against a good team. Quote

In answer to the Derek Young question, he worked hard enough but is clearly carrying much more weight than he did the last time I saw him in the flesh. Positives tonight were a couple of goals each for McGuire and Brewster and a really decent performance from Jonathan Kurrant. Good crowd too - approaching 2500 Quote

Was hoping to see de visscher and some other first teamers, but it would have made the game a no contest. Derek young was about as 'good' as i remembered I found it very difficult not to shout abuse at him! Especially after his post aberdeen comments/actions. Quote
