manc_don Posted July 30, 2010 Report Posted July 30, 2010 Neither would I MBT, but Consi is the better player. Potentially, the better player. I think him going out on loan might do him the world of good. Quote

maverick sheep Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 ‘Ryan was top class for Aberdeen FC’ Teenager could end up saving team money By Charlie Allan Published: 25/10/2010 ABERDEEN FC reckon rising star Ryan Jack could end up saving them a fortune on the transfer market next summer. Aberdeen boss Mark McGhee was so delighted with teenager Ryan’s performance as an emergency left-back in their 4-2 SPL win over Hibs at Pittodrie, he voted him his man of the match. The 18-year-old was signed as a midfielder, but McGhee reckons Ryan has what it takes to become a top class defender. McGhee admitted he’s considering scrapping plans to sign another right-back in July because he’s been so impressed by the way Ryan has burst on to the Aberdeen FC scene. McGhee said: “If Ryan keeps playing as well as he’s doing at the moment there will be no need for us to look for a right back. “It would save us money and allow us to direct extra funds towards strengthening other areas of the squad. “Ryan is right-sided, so we will still be looking to take in an out-and-out career left-back in the summer. “But as far as right back goes, Ryan could be the long term answer. “If he keeps playing as well as that he will be one of the first names on the team sheet.” Read more: http://www.eveningexpress.co.uk/Article.aspx/1968670?UserKey=#ixzz13ThFJiVP Quote
tom_widdows Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 Ryan Jack's career officially cursed Quote
BigAl Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 Why would we waiting until July to sign another right back. A typical EE mis print surely ? Quote
baggy89 Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 Why would we waiting until July to sign another right back. A typical EE mis print surely ? Surely a sign of McGhee's mental fragility, he's deluded if he thinks he will still be in a position to sign any players for AFC if he does not sort out the FB positions in January. Quote
BobbyBiscuit Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 This is Ryan Jack, the player Neil Simpson thought was a better prospect than Fraser Fyvie in midfield. Injury curtailed his progress obviously but by all accounts he's an excellent midfielder, why would you want a player of that ability at full back? Quote

Because he has no other options who can do a job there. He's fucked it. Quote
manc_don Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 I think What tf says is the sad reality of it all. What a waste of talent. Quote
BobbyBiscuit Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 I'm talking more about the future rather than the present moment. If the plan is to play him there next season (if MM is still about...) then that's fucked. Quote
Edinburghdon Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 If he's played full back next season then McGhee has fucked his career, he looked good in centre midfield today, in my opinion outshining Hartley in his overall performance (obviously ignoring hartleys goal and dubious pen) Honestly thought he impressed in central midfield and was never shy about looking for the ball and taking his time to play football when required, opposed to lumping the ball forward like some in the team. Simmy was raving about him again today, full back simply doesnt do him justice despite the fact he can cover there. Quote
stoney Posted October 27, 2010 Report Posted October 27, 2010 Looked good in midfield but looked much better at full back on saturday in my humble opinion. Big differance between the game last night and saturday for me was the distribution from the back - he offered us a range of passing which was vital towards aluko having the game that he did! Quote

You're right in the respect that you can have just about anyone in midfield but if the quality of ball from the back, especially wide, isn't up to it the wingers are going to really struggle with the central midfielders playing deeper to get the ball or the central defenders hoofing it fo safety. The flip side of that being the ball players we can play there are probably not up to task defensively. Nice to see Aluko playing some cracking balls of his own though. Quote
stoney Posted October 27, 2010 Report Posted October 27, 2010 I have to admit that i have been Alukos worst critic - thought he was murder last season, this year looks like a differant player. Quote
