Aye, I watched The Hobbit the other night too. Took waaaaaaaay too long to get going. But once it did, it was quite enjoyable. Much more light-hearted than the quite ominous and depressingly dark LOTR trilogy.

Not sure of the continuity issue that Kow speaks of. Fellowship of the Ring mentions Bilbo stumbling across the ring in Gollums cave. This is where he finds it in The Hobbit too, albeit a bit more drawn out than the Fellowship Of The Ring suggests. Although the drawn-out version was, for me, the highlight of The Hobbit movie ... I loved the riddles competition that Bilbo and Gollum contest. Wonderful.

I really enjoy the cast as well. Sylvester McCoy is perfect as the loopy wizard Radagast The Brown. James Nesbitt adds his comedy gold as one of the hobbits. And Martin Freeman is simply miles ahead of Ian Holm in the part of Bilbo.

Wonderful to see Christopher Lee reprising the role of Saruman too, even in his sadly frail state.

Quite enjoyed The Hobbit but felt it went on about 45 minutes too long. I quite liked the slow build up, but after a while got sick of seeing the Dwarfs and Gandalf running across a bridge whilst being attacked by goblins, then running across another bridge whilst being attacked by Goblins.

I enjoyed it, but I felt it was stretched.

Keen to see Les Miserables but can't convince anyone to go.

I went to see Zero Dark Thirty on Saturday night and The Impossible last night.

Zero Dark Thirty was fucking hideous and a massive let down. About an hour and a half longer than it needed to be and it's only 2 and a half hours long. Shite.

The Impossible was ok but it also was a let down. I thought it was meant to be sad? Everyone said it made them greet. I waited and waited and waited but nothing. Not a flicker. And this is coming from someone who is known for being susceptible to tear-jerkers.  :-[ I don't understand why they showed the Tsunami hitting again at the end? It was completely unnecessary and did nothing for the film. I can only assume that it cost so much to make that part that they wanted to use more of it. It's 2 hours of pain and suffering but if that's enough to make folk greet then they're living under a rock.

Next I will see Django and Flight.

This reminds me of paranormal activity.  Everyone said it was really scary and I would totally shit myself but it was just shit.  moral of the story is make your mind up about films and ignore the masses because they are fucktards

Enjoyed Django Unchained.  Christolphe Waltz nailed it again, and stole every scene.

The Impossible was quite good.  I'm sure the tear jerker bit is towards the end but I won't spoil things.  There were no tears from me although I did come closer to jerking a couple of times - good old Naomi Watts

Looking forward to Zero Dark Thirty, hope to see it this weekend.

Yeah it wasn't particularly scary but I was impressed with the second one, it was rather clever and much much better than the first film.

The happy scene? Really?

Don't expect to be impressed with Zero Dark Thirty.

Absolutely this. Outstanding performance. I thought it was a good film. Not the best by Quentin but really good. Personally I could have done without the horse shooting scene like.

I didn't cry at The Impossible either

Don't fancy Zero Dark Thirty as I didn't like The Hurt Locker

Going to see Les Mis again next weekend, also Lincoln and Hyde Park on Hudson in the next couple of weeks

Oh and No - the Chilean film nominated as best foreign film and also Amour which is also in that category

That's a lot of popcorn  :o
