RDU_64 Posted January 12, 2013 Report Posted January 12, 2013 I highly recommend Gangster Squad to anyone. Thought it was a brilliant film! Quote
Reekie_Red Posted January 12, 2013 Report Posted January 12, 2013 Aye, I watched The Hobbit the other night too. Took waaaaaaaay too long to get going. But once it did, it was quite enjoyable. Much more light-hearted than the quite ominous and depressingly dark LOTR trilogy. Not sure of the continuity issue that Kow speaks of. Fellowship of the Ring mentions Bilbo stumbling across the ring in Gollums cave. This is where he finds it in The Hobbit too, albeit a bit more drawn out than the Fellowship Of The Ring suggests. Although the drawn-out version was, for me, the highlight of The Hobbit movie ... I loved the riddles competition that Bilbo and Gollum contest. Wonderful. I really enjoy the cast as well. Sylvester McCoy is perfect as the loopy wizard Radagast The Brown. James Nesbitt adds his comedy gold as one of the hobbits. And Martin Freeman is simply miles ahead of Ian Holm in the part of Bilbo. Wonderful to see Christopher Lee reprising the role of Saruman too, even in his sadly frail state. Quote
Goldie03 Posted January 12, 2013 Report Posted January 12, 2013 I saw Les Miserables last night, great acting by Hugh Jackman and fab singing. There were tears Quote
Madbadteacher Posted January 12, 2013 Report Posted January 12, 2013 I saw Les Miserables last night, great acting by Hugh Jackman and fab singing. There were tears I really want to go see that, but no-one else here does. Will I look really sad going "solo"? Quote
Andrew Posted January 12, 2013 Report Posted January 12, 2013 Why don't you just watch it on your computer? Best of both worlds. Quote
Madbadteacher Posted January 12, 2013 Report Posted January 12, 2013 I would, but I'm unlikely to get enough peace to so do! Quote
TENEMENTFUNSTER Posted January 12, 2013 Report Posted January 12, 2013 I really want to go see that, but no-one else here does. Will I look really sad going "solo"? Even the bints can't be arsed wi it. That doesn't tell you something? I'd rather eat my own arse. Quote
jmo Posted January 13, 2013 Report Posted January 13, 2013 Quite enjoyed The Hobbit but felt it went on about 45 minutes too long. I quite liked the slow build up, but after a while got sick of seeing the Dwarfs and Gandalf running across a bridge whilst being attacked by goblins, then running across another bridge whilst being attacked by Goblins. I enjoyed it, but I felt it was stretched. Keen to see Les Miserables but can't convince anyone to go. Quote
Edinburghdon Posted January 13, 2013 Report Posted January 13, 2013 Keen to see Les Miserables but can't convince anyone to go. Get yourself on a flight to the US and you can take MBT! Quote
dave_min Posted January 13, 2013 Report Posted January 13, 2013 I really want to go see that, but no-one else here does. Will I look really sad going "solo"? Take a prostitute with you instead. Quote
Madbadteacher Posted January 13, 2013 Report Posted January 13, 2013 Take a prostitute with you instead. Nope, bad enough I'd have to pay to take the wife, but at least I get a freebie when I get home! Quote
TENEMENTFUNSTER Posted January 13, 2013 Report Posted January 13, 2013 But you'll see the movie. Take a Bobby Moore and get your cock sucked then it won't be a complete loss. You get to hide the body afterwards too remember. Quote

manc_don Posted January 27, 2013 Author Report Posted January 27, 2013 Saw Django on Friday, great film! Quote
Madbadteacher Posted January 27, 2013 Report Posted January 27, 2013 Sitting in a half stupor due to a rotten cold and cold medicine I ended up watching some film called Machete last night. I'm still not sure if it's a total piss-take or meant to be taken seriously but it kep me happily amused! Quote
Tyrant Posted January 28, 2013 Report Posted January 28, 2013 I went to see Zero Dark Thirty on Saturday night and The Impossible last night. Zero Dark Thirty was fucking hideous and a massive let down. About an hour and a half longer than it needed to be and it's only 2 and a half hours long. Shite. The Impossible was ok but it also was a let down. I thought it was meant to be sad? Everyone said it made them greet. I waited and waited and waited but nothing. Not a flicker. And this is coming from someone who is known for being susceptible to tear-jerkers. I don't understand why they showed the Tsunami hitting again at the end? It was completely unnecessary and did nothing for the film. I can only assume that it cost so much to make that part that they wanted to use more of it. It's 2 hours of pain and suffering but if that's enough to make folk greet then they're living under a rock. Next I will see Django and Flight. Quote
TENEMENTFUNSTER Posted January 28, 2013 Report Posted January 28, 2013 Django Unchained. Excellent!! Quote

Everyone said it was really scary and I would totally shit myself but it was just shit. moral of the story is make your mind up about films and ignore the masses because they are fucktards Quote
Kowalski Posted January 28, 2013 Report Posted January 28, 2013 Enjoyed Django Unchained. Christolphe Waltz nailed it again, and stole every scene. The Impossible was quite good. I'm sure the tear jerker bit is towards the end but I won't spoil things. There were no tears from me although I did come closer to jerking a couple of times - good old Naomi Watts Looking forward to Zero Dark Thirty, hope to see it this weekend. This reminds me of paranormal activity. I thought it was a good film. Not the best by Quentin but really good. Personally I could have done without the horse shooting scene like. Quote
Goldie03 Posted February 3, 2013 Report Posted February 3, 2013 I didn't cry at The Impossible either Don't fancy Zero Dark Thirty as I didn't like The Hurt Locker Going to see Les Mis again next weekend, also Lincoln and Hyde Park on Hudson in the next couple of weeks Oh and No - the Chilean film nominated as best foreign film and also Amour which is also in that category That's a lot of popcorn Quote
TENEMENTFUNSTER Posted February 3, 2013 Report Posted February 3, 2013 Didn't much like Lincoln. Quote
