manc_don Posted February 2, 2016 Author Report Posted February 2, 2016 Saw Youth the other day, another really bizarre film, well shot, good soundtrack but very strange. Quote
rocket_scientist Posted February 18, 2016 Report Posted February 18, 2016 Saw Spotlight tonight. Very good. Makes you appreciate that the fucks who failed to act on kiddie-fiddling priests are equally culpable. Systemic abuse and based on facts, the biggest fact being that the Vatican knew and have always known. Religion is for shitheads. Quote
rocket_scientist Posted February 19, 2016 Report Posted February 19, 2016 Went to The Revenant tonight. Regretted it. Quote
manc_don Posted February 20, 2016 Author Report Posted February 20, 2016 Went to The Revenant tonight. Regretted it. Warned You! Interesting film but not sure it's great. Saw Steve jobs the other day. I thought it was good and probably a more accurate portrayal of him as a likely penis. Quote
rocket_scientist Posted February 20, 2016 Report Posted February 20, 2016 Yeah you said 7/10 and I said it had to be 8+ to tempt me. But another good mate was raving about Leo and said he was bound to get the Oscar so what the hell. Agree with you that the scenery was stunning and agree it was a bizarre film. Don't agree with the sentiments that he'll finally get an Oscar for this. Yes he's got beautiful eyes and boy did they focus on that, every single lighting shot designed to show it but since when was acting ability about God-given? Fucking terrible film. Vacuous and pointless. Nothing happened. Plotless. Quote

It's pretty much a straight to dvd movie about the rise of Microsoft and Apple but I really enjoyed it. Quote
manc_don Posted February 20, 2016 Author Report Posted February 20, 2016 Will check it out! Cheers Quote
tlg1903 Posted February 21, 2016 Report Posted February 21, 2016 Will check it out! Cheers No worries. Did the film make much mention of his adoption manc? Quote
rocket_scientist Posted February 21, 2016 Report Posted February 21, 2016 I know nothing of Jobs and regret missing the film. All I know is that Apple make outstanding products. But I read somewhere that he was the son of a Syrian migrant. So if Trump had his way, one of Ametica's biggest companies may not have been. Quote
Tyrant Posted February 22, 2016 Report Posted February 22, 2016 Over the weekend I saw Spotlight, The Big Short and Deadpool (again). All good films. The first 2 are utterly depressing but really good films. I think The Big Short is somehow more depressing than Spotlight! Quote
Tyrant Posted February 22, 2016 Report Posted February 22, 2016 Here's my movies of 2016 league table so far: 1. The Hateful Eight 2. The 5th Wave 3. The Big Short 4. Daddy's Home 5. The Reventant 6. Spotlight 7. Deadpool 8. Room 9. In The Heart of The Sea Quote
manc_don Posted February 22, 2016 Author Report Posted February 22, 2016 No worries. Did the film make much mention of his adoption manc? Not at all actually! Not that I remember at least. I still really want to see Spotlight, Hateful Eight, The big short and Deadpool. Saw Trumbo last night, a very, very good film which seems to have gone under the radar! Even better that it is actually a true story. About a guy who was a very popular screenwriter in the 40/50s who was a member of the American communist party. Excellent cast too. Quote
Goldie03 Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 Oh I saw Trumbo last week - excellent story I'm going to The Big Short this week Think I'm gonna pass on The Revenant now Quote

Tyrant Posted March 1, 2016 Report Posted March 1, 2016 I went to see Triple 9. Didn't like it at all. In fact it goes bottom of my list! Quote
tlg1903 Posted March 24, 2016 Report Posted March 24, 2016 I finally got around to seeing Deadpool last night. Worth the hype, its beautiful satire on so many levels. I also couldn't help but note how many superhero movie trailers there were pre film. It had to be about 3/4 of them at least, and the the words over saturated came to mind by the end of them. Interestingly Deadpool is set to take more money than the last, and highest grossing, x men movie. Quote

Totally agree, it was worth the hype even though I'm not much of a comic book fan at all, thought it was hilarious. Fingers crossed the planned sequel proves to be just as good. Quote

Fingers crossed the planned sequel proves to be just as good. I knew nothing about deapool before I went to see it which added to the experience..... I've been thinking about it a lot the past few days and it's really hard to think of any real flaw to the film. It's defo going to be remembered as a classic in future years. Quote
Madbadteacher Posted March 25, 2016 Report Posted March 25, 2016 In the last couple of days watched two animated films from entirely different eras. The Jungle Book (1967) Walt Disney's last film he oversaw, loved this as a lad and still have the misty-eyed fondness Big Hero 6 (2015) What a difference in animation, but still tells a story, loved it. Quote
manc_don Posted June 7, 2016 Author Report Posted June 7, 2016 Watched Lone Survivor the other day. Not a bad action film. All based upon a true story about US marines in Afghanistan. If you want a film you don't really have to think about and like some shooting, this is it. Quote
Tyrant Posted June 17, 2016 Report Posted June 17, 2016 Watched a few movies whilst on holiday: Last Shift The Conjuring 2 Come Back to Me Money Monsters All enjoyable movies although I rarely watch horror films. I've been brave. Quote
Mentorred Posted June 18, 2016 Report Posted June 18, 2016 Went to see Now You See Me 2. was rather enjoyable. Quote
Tyrant Posted June 20, 2016 Report Posted June 20, 2016 The Secret Life of Pets. Liked the beginning and the end but the middle kind of sagged. Nae bad at all though. Quote
