dave_min Posted September 1, 2010 Report Posted September 1, 2010 The only positive I can see is that if both players play well, at the end of the season we can get Velicka for free, while the Huns will have to pay for Foster. Even then, i'm sure if Velicka plays well i'm sure he'll sign on again for the Huns. Quote
Mentorred Posted September 1, 2010 Report Posted September 1, 2010 Agent Foster has reported for duty. Quote
Guest leith_red Posted September 1, 2010 Report Posted September 1, 2010 Just out of interest who were the immediately previous players to have made the same switch. Stephen Wright and Jim Bett? Theo. Quote
scotfree Posted September 1, 2010 Report Posted September 1, 2010 Theo. There is a bit of a difference going to Rangers and then coming back.... If he does. Quote

Superstar Tradesman Posted September 1, 2010 Report Posted September 1, 2010 I don't actually feel the need to be pissed off with the guy. It doesn't sound like it was any of his own doing and he's on the official site saying he sees it as a way to gain valuable experience for when he returns to Aberdeen next season. The smilie-shirt photos are for the Huns. What do you expect him to do? Quote

Its pretty obvious where the team need strengthened and where it didn't and he's gone and done the exact opposite - with our biggest rival. Quote
McMaster Posted September 1, 2010 Report Posted September 1, 2010 Got to say some of the comments in here are fairly harsh. I think if Velicka scores 20+ goals for us this season and we finish in the top 6, this thread will never get mentioned. Personally when i heard about this deal going through i got excited by it. Being honest we never would have stood a chance of buying a player of Velickas' calibre, so a loan deal is amazing. OK fitness worries, but IF he stays fit, tremendous. Last week we were moaning about the long balls getting punted to Magenniss from Ifil and no back up. We can now go 442, 433, 343!!?? I am sure McGhee knows he can get defenders in that are out of contract if he frees up the wage bill. Basey and Ross coming in were mentioned. If he gets them in, fair play. Obviously there is a danger he cant get them in and we will leak goals like hell but at least we can score goals. Personally i am getting fed up watching Hibs, Hearts, Dundee Utd etc., bangin the goals in when we are struggling to score more than 1. At least we might be exciting to watch!! In McGhee I trust Quote
Madbadteacher Posted September 1, 2010 Report Posted September 1, 2010 Maybe MM is being really damn clever. Planning to sell off Foster after he "returns"? Odds on Fozzy getting some Scotland caps now, I mean if Clubfoot can get them just by being a hun............. Quote
Mentorred Posted September 1, 2010 Report Posted September 1, 2010 Who knows he might be the 1st Aberdeen player to win the Champions League. Anyway back to reality. Quote
Edinburghdon Posted September 1, 2010 Report Posted September 1, 2010 I'm not sure its the rangers thing thats the main issue here fj, its certainly not for me anyway. The main problem for me is Mcghee has punted our only full back for a striker who has been injured for 2 years. No matter who the other club is thats a huge gamble and one i feel is going to backfire. Quote
Madbadteacher Posted September 1, 2010 Report Posted September 1, 2010 Could this be MM's Alex Miler moment (the Dodds/Winters fiasco) Quote

mizer Posted September 1, 2010 Report Posted September 1, 2010 Is there any word if we have it in the loan contract Foster cant play against us? Quote
El Padre™ Posted September 2, 2010 Report Posted September 2, 2010 Richard Foster says he will ignore internet message boards saying the versatile defender is no longer welcome at Aberdeen after moving to Rangers on a one-year loan deal. (Daily Record) Is there any word if we have it in the loan contract Foster cant play against us? I'd rather he did line up against us, Pawlett and Aluko would turn him inside out. Quote
Edinburghdon Posted September 2, 2010 Report Posted September 2, 2010 Had a glance at the record, seems fairly scathing and going on what I've seen on here fairly unwarranted! Quote
BigAl Posted September 2, 2010 Report Posted September 2, 2010 Says in the article in The Retard ( hello those who could be loosely described as journalists, and are sneaking about in forums to make up quotes taking posts out of context ) that Foster is not allowed to play against us Quote

That's a fair reflection of much of the immediate messageboard reaction. I don't however think it's of much journalistic merit to print knee-jerk reactions of some keyboard hardnuts as if they mean anything in the real world. I similarly don't want to see foster play for us again but it's for the same reason I haven't wanted to see him play for us for years. He's gash. Quote
CtS Posted September 2, 2010 Report Posted September 2, 2010 Using phrases like... he will ignore the messageboard morons and he is ready to run a gauntlet of hate are certainly not out of context because these are words the Daily Record churn out every time they write about Aberdeen fans. Naughty Aberden fans, they'll be gobbing on their manager next. Quote
