BobbyBiscuit
Andrius Velicka, the Lithuanian striker yet to make an appearance for Aberdeen since joining on loan from Rangers, has been sent to a special fitness camp. (the Herald) ........ McGhee saying Velicka is very close to playing and SS website saying he's having a late fitness test along with Aluko and Hartley for today. BobbyBiscuit
Just been watching the hearts game on BBC Alba. Personally i thought Velicka was pish, contributed nothing of note. According to those at the game (I was neither there nor have I seen it on Alba) he just simply wasn't fit. That's MM's fault rather than the players

stoney
Or both =) On paper looking at his record.........good signing but clearly not fit today and think magennis would have offered a lot more against a rather soft looking defence
dave_min
Or both =) On paper looking at his record.........good signing but clearly not fit today and think magennis would have offered a lot more against a rather soft looking defence If only we had a striker on our books who scored for his national team. Even if they'd managed to do it this week.....
stoney
Would that be the one who manged to get booked but didnt score again? =)
Slim
He clearly wasn't match fit. But, the only real way of getting match fit is by playing competitive matches. Once he has a few matches under his belt, I'm sure we'll see the best of him. I'm more concerned that if he's played up front with Vernon, there's not a lot of pace and the only attacking option we have is punts up the park. maverick sheep
even fully fit, Velicka and Vernon are too similar to be a front two. Neither are mobile. I think I maybe saw Velicka within 20 yards of the ball once. Obviously I'll be patient with him tho.

Been out for over a year and yes, he may say he wants to play but a manager throwing him in from the start looks rather desperate I'd say. Harcus
It was a baffling one from McGhee. Maguire finally starting to look the part upfront, forming something of a partnership with Vernon, and should be flying after his screamer on U21 duty. So McGhee decideds to punt him wide to start a striker that hasn't played any football in 14 months. Desperate stuff.

Forms a good pairing, score 2 between them against der hun, next time they're available and after Maguire scores a Hollywood for the u21's, yes Chris, well done, you are in fact a winger and this dude who has not played since Hivs won at home (it is probably longer actually) will be playing up front. How d'ye like them aipples Chris? No much I reckon. Desperately awesome.
