Kowalski Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 A few names getting bandied around on various sites. Opened the poll up so that people can vote for more than one. Appreciate that we're not currently looking for a new manager. We can add more names to the poll. Quote
Madbadteacher Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 Far's the ubiquitous Stuart Baxter opion? Quote
Mentorred Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 Where is the London Scottish option? Quote
Madbadteacher Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 Ta. Went for Starkie myself. Quote
maverick sheep Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 can't be arsed even thinking about who I'd want since it's not even possible it would be anyone we can actually get. Quote
Mentorred Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 no votes for JC??? While was not one of the ones desperate for him to go it would be a mistake to go back. Some good choices there but I think with money involved we will probably go for someone out of work like Strachan if he would come. Unless any of the others are out of contract at the end of the season and we get like Scott on a short term. Quote
Mentorred Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 Gazza At least he would be good to have around the place. Quote
Madbadteacher Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 We could have chicken and go fishing? Quote
Sharpie Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 Bruce Rioch. Has managed Arsenal (albiet not hugely successfully). Has applied for the job before. Has since won the league in Denmark with an unfancied side. I believe him to be unemployed at the moment. Quote

quirie Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 If McGhee is punted (I'd rather he walked because of what he did as a player and it would be a bit more dignified) it would have to be someone thats unemployed. No way in hell can we afford compensation. Ive got a feeling it will be John Hughes although I dont want to see him get it Quote
Sharpie Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 Does he have a good record on Wikipedia? Actually I'm havering pish. He took Odense to 3rd and then took over the then champions Aalborg and managed them in the Champions league. But he seems to have gone down well at Middlesboro and Bolton. Quote
caledonia Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 Went for 3 with Derek Adams being my fav Quote
BigAl Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 Derek Adams isn't the answer in my opinion. Would almost welcome "Craig Brown" type appointment i.e someone who has been around the game awhile, reasonably well respected and knowledgable and not necessarily looking fo the gig long term but more just to steady the ship. I'm with you there Al and that's why I've always mentioned Jocky Scott. A young manager with no SPL experience walking into that mess? We'd be asking for trouble in my opinion. Quote
Dandy_Don Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 I'd like to have Jess in, just have a feeling he could be a good manager. However, given our history with past players in recent times it is probably better to stay away from any past players - including Jess, Strachan, Paatelainen or Black. However just to contradict that, because I think he did play for us at one time, I think Jocky Scott would be the ideal person. He is experienced, will probably be his last big job, and probably the only one willing to take the job because he isn't worried about the knock-on impact to the rest of his career. Think he could bring the discipline and knowledge of the Scottish game to steady the ship - he really will be just to steady the ship though, not a long term replacement. Newell or Phil Brown could be decent shouts as well. Quote
TENEMENTFUNSTER Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 Phil brown? No....... Just no Agreed. Quote
BobbyBiscuit Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 Phil brown? No....... Just no Aye, if folk think MM is arrogant and if folk thought JC was tanned then it's fuck all compared to that cuntstick. A man who rates himself way higher than he ever should and way higher than everyone else does. We'd be as well sticking with McGhee... Quote
caledonia Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 Would not need an ear piece at pittrodrie though. Quote
manc_don Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 Phil brown would be an attrocious appointment. Mind you, the tanning salons would see a rise in their profits Quote
Dandy_Don Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 Fair points about Brown. To be honest I don't know that much about him but I just remember him doing not too bad at Hull. Nothing spectacular mind you. Quote
