amp Posted November 9, 2010 Report Posted November 9, 2010 Hartley - Player/Manager I have it on good authority that Paul Hartley will be named player/manager for the rest of the season, when McGhee gets the sack. McGhee will be sacked tomorrow morning if we do not win the match tonight. Ok...I don't have it on good authority. I just made that up. But I do think it will happen. Quote
mizer Posted November 9, 2010 Report Posted November 9, 2010 Does he have the relevant badges yet? I dont think he has completed them yet. Quote
amp Posted November 9, 2010 Author Report Posted November 9, 2010 Does he have the relevant badges yet? I dont think he has completed them yet. Ah bollocks. Good point Mizer - I have no idea if he has the relevant badges or not. I guess he doesn't? Quote
Guest ally s Posted November 9, 2010 Report Posted November 9, 2010 Worst thread for a long time. Quote
Azteca1903 Posted November 9, 2010 Report Posted November 9, 2010 Ah bollocks. Good point Mizer - I have no idea if he has the relevant badges or not. I guess he doesn't? I read in a recent interview that he was currently doing them. To be honest, as long as he is going through the process, I think he would probably get dispensation to manage us. Quote
amp Posted November 9, 2010 Author Report Posted November 9, 2010 Worst thread for a long time. Why so? Quote
capitalsharpie Posted November 9, 2010 Report Posted November 9, 2010 The cheap, spineless option from the directors? Yep. It'll happen. Quote
BobbyBiscuit Posted November 9, 2010 Report Posted November 9, 2010 Think that'd be a terrible move. we've been crying out for a real captain for years, now we have one why compromise that position? Let him get on with his job which, up until Saturday, he has been doing very well. It would be too much for him, it would be too much for anyone. There are so few player manager's these days compared to 20/25 years ago. There's a very good reason for that. Quote
BigAl Posted November 9, 2010 Report Posted November 9, 2010 Think Hartley has the potential to make a very good manager BUT this is not a job for a rookie manager in my opinion. Fair enough if you appoint a father figure then Hartley could become player/assistant manager Quote
manc_don Posted November 9, 2010 Report Posted November 9, 2010 Too soon. He'll make a very good manager, but this is not the time or place to try it. I love having him as captain and want that to remain. Quote
baggy89 Posted November 9, 2010 Report Posted November 9, 2010 My sauce told me an Alex Miller/Roy Aitken dream team will be unveiled tonight with Stewart Milne being registered as an emergency fullback, Willie Miller to take full financial control of the club and Stuart Baxter as director of football. dandy Posted November 9, 2010 Report Posted November 9, 2010 With Steve Paterson as Director of Corporate Entertainment Quote
TENEMENTFUNSTER Posted November 9, 2010 Report Posted November 9, 2010 As said, too good a captain and influence in the pitch to potentially dilute that. No saying he won't be a good manager but he should enjoy playing a good bit yet and yes, it would be a thoroughly cheap maneouvre by the board, so it's eminently possible. Once more it could transpire hat the board with nae cash finds half a mill or so to chin a manager but not to back him. Fucking surreal stuff. No more cash from me. Quote
Sandaldinho Posted November 9, 2010 Report Posted November 9, 2010 Once more it could transpire that the board with nae cash finds half a mill or so to chin a manager but not to back him. there is the problem Quote
dickofthedons Posted November 9, 2010 Report Posted November 9, 2010 With Steve Paterson as Director of Corporate Entertainment Fuck yeah, I have a meal/event at Pittodrie on Friday, get him in asap. He's nae doing much at Huntly anyway Quote
Dandy_Don Posted November 9, 2010 Report Posted November 9, 2010 Jocky Scott with Hartley as Assistant/Player? Quote

Kowalski Posted November 9, 2010 Report Posted November 9, 2010 Don't think we want Hartley being anything other than the on field leader. And Ronald McDonald as food and beverages co-ordinator That would improve the catering! Quote
Cowie Posted November 9, 2010 Report Posted November 9, 2010 Too soon. Would much rather have him concentrating on the field for the impending relegation battle. Quote
Sandaldinho Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 That would be the worst idea ever! Quote
