Aberdeen manager Mark McGhee is concerned his players' confidence could hit rock bottom after they limped to a 2-0 defeat at Kilmarnock.

The Dons, who have now collected just four Clydesdale Bank Premier League points from a possible 39, never looked like coming back following Jamie Hamill's penalty early in the second half.

Although they had decent spells of possession in the first half, they failed to get a shot on target and Killie were in control after Conor Sammon's 18th-minute opener. Aberdeen were top of the SPL after winning their first two games but are now joint bottom with Hamilton on 10 points and have failed to pick up a point since McGhee convinced the board he could turn the club around a fortnight ago.

He previously claimed he could see signs of improvement but said: "I have to be really careful now.

"We went out believing we had a shape that would give us a chance to deal with Killie and their expansive play and still give us a chance of winning the game.

"The first half showed that was true, but we didn't. Therefore there is a danger at this point, for the first time, that the confidence really starts to go. Obviously I have to be on alert for that."

I actually think in all seriousness that McGhee is ill.
