Kowalski Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 Dons are prepared to pay for right man board will take time in manager search By Paul Third Published: 06/12/2010 Chairman Stewart Milne and the other major shareholders at the club covered the costs of dismissing manager Mark McGhee and his coaching team of Scott Leitch and Colin Meldrum last Wednesday. The same majority shareholders of the club have agreed to fund the costs involved in finding and appointing the new management team. With the club joint bottom of the SPL, two goals better off than bottom side Hamilton, the Dons know they have to get their new appointment right and will take their time in going through the recruitment process. The board is comfortable with the interim coaching team of youth coaches Neil Cooper and Neil Simpson taking charge of the first team for the game at Hearts on Saturday and the duo have been told to proceed this week on the assumption they will be in the dugout. The self-appointed sub-committee of Milne, chief executive Duncan Fraser and director of football Willie Miller spent the weekend sifting through applications for the post. Some candidates, such as former Hull City manager Phil Brown and former St Mirren manager Gus MacPherson have been more creditable than others, while former Dons co-manager Jocky Scott would also be keen on a return to Pittodrie. The sub-committee will draw up a shortlist this week and begin interviewing candidates with Scotland under-21 manager Billy Stark and former Hibernian manager John Hughes expected to be on the list. BigAl Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 or he's been told there is no budget for the coming transfer window(s). fixed it for you Quote
BobbyBiscuit Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 The money for the severance package has been paid personally by the Board of Directors, as will any compensation required to get the new guy in. Phil Brown has officially applied for the job. http://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/Article.aspx/2040176 Quote
glasgowdon Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 Brown seems quite high profile. Wouldn't be my last choice anyway. Quote

Tyrant Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 Phil Brown would be an interesting appointment. I don't know about good appointment but interesting. Whilst no candidates jump out I'd go for Craig Brown myself. Experienced and used to working with a shoe string budget. Knows what he's doing. Quote
Kowalski Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 Phil Brown with Windass as assistant is one of the rumours doing the rounds. Quote
BobbyBiscuit Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 Phil Brown with Windass as assistant is one of the rumours doing the rounds. Can't see it, they supposedly hate each other. I really wouldn't want Windass in at any capacity to be honest. Quote
tlg1903 Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 I would much rather john Hughes than phil fucking brown.......... for the record I don't want john Hughes Quote
glasgow sheep Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 Apparently the only name in the fans lips in Aberdeen is Billy Stark. Well that is according to Reporting Scotland. Quote

mizer Posted December 6, 2010 Author Report Posted December 6, 2010 Apparently the only name in the fans lips in Aberdeen is Billy Stark. Well that is according to Reporting Scotland. I cant see a poll on hat or mad (am I wrong?), so where are they getting this from? Quote
Goldie03 Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 Apparently the only name in the fans lips in Aberdeen is Billy Stark. Well that is according to Reporting Scotland. Yeh the interview with the old geezer was quite strange - followed by the man who never mentioned his name and then the young lad who didn't seem overly impressed at the thought Quote
McMaster Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 Can you imagine this at Pittodrie Quote
manc_don Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 Saw the video on Bbc sport this afternoon. I still don't think billy stark is the right option! Quote
Guest asfrc Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 Can you imagine this at Pittodrie this would happen every other week if performances did'nt get any better than they have been Quote
BobbyBiscuit Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 Can you imagine this at Pittodrie One of the most ill-advised managerial moments ever. This wasn't far behind though: Quote
maverick sheep Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 Phil Brown has something very corrupt and sleazy about him. Definately not someone to trust with the future of the club. Quote
dave_min Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 So....take it that it's just me who wants Phil Brown then? Quote
