INVERNESS Caledonian Thistle chairman Kenny Cameron says the decision to place the 'Newco' Rangers into the third division next season could "spell the end of football as we know it."

Scottish Football League clubs met at Hampden Park this morning to come to a decision on where Charles Green's newco Ibrox club would play, and 25 of the 30 clubs voted the club into the bottom tier.

Cameron has said the club's directors are set for an emergency meeting this weekend to discuss the financial implications of the decision.

In a statement, Mr Cameron said today was saddening for Scottish clubs, and that no club would escape the consequences.

The statement, in full, reads as follows: "There will now inevitably be serious consequences for the game in Scotland.

"We have all, as clubs, accepted the views of our stakeholders in making the initial judgement to uphold sporting integrity.

"All clubs will now have to live with the repercussions of this decision. Scottish football was at a crossroads today in terms of what was on the table for all clubs regarding reorganisation, financial distribution and a road map that would have taken the game forward.

"But this has now been thrown in to disarray by this decision. This is a sad day for all clubs in Scotland."

Mr Cameron added: "None of us will escape the financial fallout from this. There was an opportunity on the table, in terms of the joint agreement tabled at today’s meeting for us all to come together and a genuine willingness to improve the game substantially over the coming years.

"But it now looks as though this will once again be kicked back in to the long grass. A once in a lifetime opportunity to bring forward change may well have been lost.

"The directors of ICTFC are fully aware of the financial implications of this latest decision on Newco. The loss of either our fans or our sponsors was never going to leave any of the clubs in Scotland in a healthy financial position and for some this could spell the end of football as we know it.

"Certain clubs in the SFL have perceived the financial information they were receiving as a 'big stick' to beat them into accepting Newco in the First Division. This was definitely not the case, as far as I am concerned. What they were being told was the reality of the situation."

The chairman concluded: "We will be convening an emergency board meeting over the weekend to discuss the very serious financial implications for us as a club going forward."

The Glasgow club was forced to apply to the SFL after a meeting of SPL clubs last week voted against the newco joining the top tier.

Rangers went into administration on February 14 owing over £130 million to creditors.

The club will be liquidated, meaning its registration with the Scottish Football Association and SPL ended. A Green-led consortium bought Gers' assests for £5.5 million and created the Rangers newco.

A number of the Glasgow club's first-team players have signed with other clubs, rather than play for the newco in a lower division, but manager Ally McCoist has stayed.

A decision of whether to let Dunfermline, who were relegated from the SPL last season, or Dundee, who finished second to Ross County in the first division, is imminent.

No, it hasn't.  It's probably been one of the most refreshing days in Scottish football where the so called "diddy clubs" have stood up to the bullies in the SPL and SFA.  Let's just hope the SFA / SPL manage to not ruin it on Monday.  If you have budgeted on the huns, then your club deserves to die.

Very disappointing statement from Caley, as they run a pretty tight financial ship up there and are not in any particular debt (IIRC) and should be in better financial position to adapt.  Pretty disgraceful to blame the SFL clubs.  But it looks like a lot of the SPL clubs were in on this plan for division 1.

Charles Patterson from Sky reiterating that Monday's SPL meeting will have both readmittance for newco to SPL and formation of SPL2 on agenda.

If it wasn't already so contemptible it'd be staggering that after several unanimous decisions to put newco into div 3 and widespread approval of many other suggested league reforms, nothing is being proposed by the people running the game apart from the very two things that everyone has repeatedly rejected.

Let's not forget that "sporting integrity" is not met with newco going to div 3 at all. That is still throwing out the rule book on behalf of just one team. It is a massive compromise on behalf of the fans and other clubs to even allow that much. And yet Regan/Cockwomble are still so greedy that they won't accept that. Maybe can't even SEE it.

I don't blame Green for wanting to chance it and get in as high a league as possible, and after having demanded div 3, it'd be very unfair to suddenly tell the seemingly sensible majority of (currently unattached) huns that they can't get in the professional set up at all after all. But this is now being dragged out when there literally is nothing left that can possibly happen out with newco to div 3 other than a hell of a lot of people being openly betrayed by their clubs and by their governing body.

One way or the other Regan/Cockwomble are of a mind that fans are fickle and no matter how this turns out, people will swallow what they're given like a bunch of unthinking chumps.

I want to know what happens if those who have already bought a season ticket are told it's too late to get it refunded. Will they still turn up? This is shaping up to be the biggest footballing swindle in history.

Not to sound like a hun but I'd imagine it wouldn't be a case of budgeting on the huns specifically, I'd imagine it would be more a case of budgeting on the existing tv and sponsorship deals. Which as the SPL/SFA have hinted at (whether its a scare tactic or not) may well disappear...

I could be wrong though.

SFA and SPL should be pushed for statments on this today.

SPL clubs themselves could of course kill any speculation tonight by saying that they will not vote to form an SPL 2 or readmit Newco to SPL. Bet they don't.

Take it back Dons have released a statement.

SFA CHIEF EXECUTIVE STEWART REGAN

“In light of today’s decision by the members of the Scottish Football League, the Scottish FA is committed to leading the challenge to reinvigorate the national game.

“This challenge requires the collective effort not just of the Scottish FA but the respective league organisations and all member clubs.

“Today is a watershed for Scottish football. There will, undoubtedly, be financial consequences on the horizon. None the less, with togetherness, an open mind, and innovative thinking, there can also be opportunity: opportunity to restructure the game and promote competitiveness, to place greater emphasis on development of young Scottish talent and to support the financial sustainability of clubs through the Financial Fair Play model.

“The Scottish FA has offered guidance and support to the respective league bodies during this process. The SPL and SFL enter a crucial phase ahead of the new season and they must reach agreement on the practical issues that require to be addressed within their jurisdictions.

“Ultimately, there must be an outcome that enables Scottish football to move on with consensus, clarity and confidence into a new era for the national game.”

What a pile of horse shit.

And that outcome is.......................NO CHEATING TO LET THE schum INTO AN "SPL" In ANY FORM

And no "fucking about" with the current set-up to shoe-horn a new one in for 2013/14 just to accommodate the scum

No you utter fuckwit, the game has been thrown into disarray by the cheating and theft committed by Glasgow Rangers (deceased), and by the sheer idiocy of the contract negotiations made on behalf of the clubs re sponsorship and broadcasting deals.

Every SL and DIv 1 club should loan out a couple of players to Div3 teams th "make them competitive" vs the ex-hun-cheats.

BTW does this mean Ian Black and Cock Beater will not be joining them now? Are they sill under an embargo? Bit pointless if they're not.

As much as it's been said before - and rightly - that Thomson's objectivity has been a breath of fresh air from the complicit and thoroughly corrupt Scottish sports media, it beggars belief that really no one else but him has spotted the magnitude of the story. But just thank fuck someone did I suppose, or the propaganda may have been more effective up to now.

Also, Chick Young and Tom English should never be allowed to forget their pathetic mocking of a real journalist. It's people like those cunts that undermine public trust in the entire industry.
