Charles Green has indicated to the Rangers board he will leave his role as chief executive of the club.

Green became chief executive after leading a consortium that purchased the assets of the liquidated Rangers Football Club plc.

He is now to subject of an independent investigation, commissioned by the club's board, following allegations of covert dealings with former Rangers owner Craig Whyte.

Green is Rangers' biggest shareholder.

The Englishman, who has just under 8% of the overall shareholding, has been unavailable for comment.

It's fucking hilarious, especially if Whyte still owns things.

Sounds like Chuck has been rumbled.

But fuck knows where this puts newco/sevco/SFA/SFL/Rangers-share-issue now, it all looks highly dodgy.  What a sorry mess.  Have to admit it is difficult keeping up with the status of the club, the company, and who is running it.  Highly amusing though.

If only they'd let Cove Rangers in there would have been none of this nonsense.

Former chief executive Charles Green has agreed to sell his shares in Rangers to Greenock bus tycoon James Easdale, BBC Scotland understands.

Easdale and his brother, Sandy, already own around 6% of Rangers, but they want more - and a presence on the board.

However, Sandy Easdale was jailed for VAT fraud in 1997, a matter thought to concern current Ibrox board members.

The board met on Tuesday to discuss the possibility of the Easdales increasing their stake.

It is possible the family will look to buy even more shares in Rangers in an attempt to take some form of overall control of the Division Three champions.

The Easdale family owns McGill's Buses, a Greenock-based company that has become the largest independent bus operator in Scotland.

Surely, eventually, the financial "wizards/stock exchange police" will be investigating, "properly"?

So even if the "authorities" here do nothing, they really must be screwed?

ETA: surely it's pretty clear from the players they're desperate to offload they really need to trim wages? Cammy Bell for Neil Alexander??

The Scottish FA is seeking further information from Rangers regarding allegations of Charles Green's dealings with former owner Craig Whyte.

The SFA wrote to Green, now the club's former chief executive, a fortnight ago seeking clarification.

Having received a response, they have asked for more details on certain matters.

Whyte has alleged Green agreed to act as his frontman and believes he still has a claim to the club's assets.

Assurances from Green's consortium last summer that Whyte had no involvement was key to the SFA granting Rangers a licence to play in the Third Division.

Green stood down as chief executive on 19 April after the Ibrox board ordered an independent investigation into the allegations of his secret dealings with Whyte, who took the club into administration in February 2012.

On Wednesday, Worthington, a firm buying into Whyte's businesses, said it would be sending a file to the Serious Fraud Office about Green's practices when the consortium he was fronting bought Rangers' assets for £5.5m.

Two weeks ago Whyte lost a court case with Ticketus, the company that funded his purchase of Rangers from Sir David Murray. He has been ordered to pay the finance firm £18m.
