partick thistle saying the sevco 5088 dream team should have to start in div 3, and that the sfa should be the ones to make the call, rather than forcing sfl clubs to sort a problem they had nothing to do with creating.

Really is the obvious answer.

Anyone that thinks otherwise sadly is deluded

http://www.scotsman.com/sport/football/top-football-stories/scotsman-com-survey-results-scottish-football-fans-have-their-say-on-rangers-newco-1-2391584

THE results of our online survey of Scottish football fans has confirmed that the vast majority of supporters are against a newco Rangers playing in the Scottish Premier League, with most in favour of the club starting in the Third Division.

Asked whether they would back the admittance of a newco Rangers into the SPL, only 7.7% responded Yes, with 91% of those polled voting against the proposition.

The survey shows that a majority of fans - almost 80% - would stay away from matches if the Ibrox club were allowed back into the top flight.

More than 7,000 supporters gave their answers in the survey, which was open between 21 - 27 June on scotsman.com.

Of those fans who follow teams in the Scottish Football League, 62.2% said they would prefer to see a newco Rangers in the Third Division, while 31.8% were against any return to the league for Charles Green’s side. Only 5.8% supported First Division entry, by comparison.

While the weight of opinion was against Rangers being given a competitive advantage next season, a significant proportion (43.9%) of fans backed the restructuring of the SPL into a two-tier format, with 27.5% against the idea and 28.6% unsure.

Of these fans, 95.1% voted in favour of a newco Rangers starting in the second tier.

It appears that most Scottish football supporters are not concerned over reports that their clubs would stuggle financially in the event of Rangers being demoted to the bottom tier of the game.

Almost 87% said they would have no concerns about the financial stability of their club without Rangers in the SPL, while 83% believed the other SPL clubs could survive without the Ibrox club in the top flight.

Only a slight majority of Rangers fans were in favour of their team playing in the SPL (52.5%), with 39.8% against and 7.8% unsure.

Most Rangers fans (57.3%) believe the other SPL clubs would struggle to survive financially if the Old Firm club were demoted.

the spl 2 question seems a bit dodgy. suggests large support for the newco  into spl 2 option, but that is a very vague option, with unknown consequences in terms of who that means newco are parachuted in above. and it is also close to the same number of people who said they don't want newco in the sfl at all.

but i bet that 95% figure gets used by certain people in future!

This! It certainly looks like one of those loaded questions that will get dragged out! '95% of fans want an SPL 2 with Rangers included'

But one of the conditions for having the SFA membership transferred, and/or acceptance into SPL/Div1 was having a signing ban was it not?

Minor details GS.

They also don't have a membership for anywhere, but fuck it... let's just start signing people anyway.

They've also got no income, but that's also beside the point.

Cockwomble..

Doncaster said three options were available regarding where Rangers should play next season.

"The three viable options are effectively: bringing "newco" Rangers back into the SPL with a range of appropriate sanctions; putting Rangers into the second tier of Scottish football or Rangers going into the bottom of the pyramid into Division Three," he added.

"The third option, I was keen to stress yesterday, would inflict massive damage on the whole of the game in Scotland; and effectively punish 41 innocent clubs for the misdeeds of one."

The SPL can only vote on option 1 FFS!

And He's still propagating the financial melt down!

Fuck him!

partick thistle saying the sevco 5088 dream team should have to start in div 3, and that the sfa should be the ones to make the call, rather than forcing sfl clubs to sort a problem they had nothing to do with creating.

Very good statement from PT:

"Unquestionably there are major financial consequences, for all clubs in Scotland, should a newco Rangers club not take a place in next season's SPL and there has been a proposal put in front of the SFL clubs that would allow Rangers direct entry into SFL1, contrary to the current league rules.

"On its own this proposal is clearly unacceptable, on a number of levels, and is something the board of PTFC are not prepared to support.

"A more fundamental review of the entire Scottish football league(s) setup is clearly required.

"However, we feel that it is not the responsibility for making a decision, that will have huge ramifications throughout the game in this country, to fall on any individual member, or collection of clubs of the Scottish Football League.

"This is not a problem of the SFL's making and as a result it is not a decision which can be taken in isolation of the SPL clubs.

"It is the opinion of Partick Thistle that the Scottish Football Association, the game's governing body in Scotland, should now take ownership of this unprecedented situation.

"Our view, shared by the majority of supporters, is that a radical overhaul of our game is required. We are more than happy to be involved in any such process, however feel that the driving force for change has to be our national association."

The only reason Doncaster doesn't see div 3 as "viable" is because he's trying to cover his own arse for signing contracts with rangers in the SPL for season 13/14 .

It is perfectly viable and he will have to face the consequences for his stupidity.

Chris McLaughlin ?@BBCchrismclaug

Most club reps entered meeting via back door to avoid media. Would fans rather they walked up the stairs and faced the questions? #SPL

@BBCchrismclaug most? Who went through the front door?

St Mirren, Ross County, Aberdeen.

St Mirren - who have held countless meetings with fans and been open about their concerns, even if they seem misguided

Ross County - new to all this, poor sods must be wishing they were still in the sfl, what a way to start your first season at the top of Scottish fitba

Aberdeen - most outspoken of all the spl clubs in recent weeks and likely to come out of this with significant credit

rest of them - shysters
