That's the thing. Rangers and everyone associated with that vile organisation have shown no humility whatsoever throughout this whole fiasco. No shame for the offences which have been committed, no remorse for those creditors and the taxpayer who are out of pocket to the tune of millions, no apologies for the blatant cheating and lack of sporting integrity.

Celtic's silence is intriguing me. They missed the meeting at Milne's house; they did get an invite and yet chose to not meet the other clubs.

 

I'm almost certain they'd vote yes and the other clubs are forcing their hand here.  A "yes" Celtic vote is horrendous pr for them hence the request for a secret ballot. They could lose a fortune in lost ST sales.  Are the "other 10" effectively bullying the tims?

They want/need rangers in the spl but can't be seen to vote them back in.  What they needed was for the other clubs to vote in a way that their vote means fuck all. The majority of their fans simply won't accept a Yes vote.  They are offering to boycott clubs who vote "Yes" so they would have to boycott their own club!  Like you say, it would be a horrendous PR disaster for them.

I'm talking more of the positioning once the season starts and we're hun-less. Milne made the point that we're at the forefront of changing Scottish football, is it a case he's worked it so that all the "diddy clubs" are singing from the same hymn sheet, and will move any future votes exactly how we want them to go, pushing Celtic along with us if they like it or not?

oh... and further good news... Chick Young is not renewing his contract with BBC next season.  I'd say he's been pushed rather than him jumping however.  I'd imagine Billy Dodds will be coming to a similar decision in the next couple of weeks.

SFL board meeting today to discuss admitting newco.  75% vote in favour required.  Chris McLaughlin saying still unclear which division.

FALKIRK boss Steven Pressley insists the return of a promotion play-off is nowhere near enough of a trade-off for letting Rangers jump into the First Division.

SPL and SFL chiefs have been holding talks with the SFA about plans that would prevent the Ibrox newco, set to be frozen-out of the top-flight, having to start again from the very bottom of the Scottish game.

 

Those are understood to involve changing the way cash is distributed within the game and introducing a play-off that would offer the chance for an extra First Division team to be promoted.

 

But Pressley insists this is a chance to bring about a full-scale footballing revolution and believes just bringing back a play-off to allow Rangers a quick route back to the SPL is short-sighted and unacceptable.

 

He said: “My concern is that proposed changes are purely to find a solution to the Rangers situation and not for the betterment of the game.

 

“This has to be the catalyst for real change and not just change created to figure out where we can put Rangers.

 

“There is talk of them joining the SFL1, but if one team up and a play-off is pretty much all that is put in place to allow Rangers into SFL1, I am opposed to it. Regardless of a newco, they would still have significantly bigger budgets than anyone else currently in the First Division.

 

“I have been an advocate for change for some time, but my idea for change has been based around larger leagues.

 

“The argument for so long against changing to bigger leagues is that there is a necessity to have four Old Firm games a season because of the Sky TV deal.

 

“If SPL clubs are going to vote against a newco Rangers, that argument no longer stands.

Businesses struggling on the edge of insolvency can be expected to create administrative havoc as they duck and dive to survive.  The result is usually a set of accounts that are riddled with errors & misstatements and a complex paper trail that makes it difficult to understand who owns what. There have been a few surprises in the unravelling of Rangers FC, but the club being a legal disaster area by the time it entered administration on 14th February was not one of them. What is a surprise is that the administration process does not appear to have improved matters.

 

Insolvency practitioners would typically see simplifying and clarifying as their first task. Yet Duff & Phelps appear to have made the Rangers situation even more opaque than when their took over from Craig Whyte. A representative of a major Rangers creditor- who has a detailed appreciation of the facts- described the current situation at Ibrox as “an unholy mess”. He said this in the context of a discussion about the lack of transparency over who actually owns what. He is of the view that this disaster will require many visits to the Court of Session before it is sorted out.

 

There are many fragments to this tale that just do not add up: stories of no banking facility for  Charles Green’s newco; reports that season ticket receipts are to be paid to the oldco bank account (from which only secured and preferred creditors would be able to draw ahead of the cash going to the unsecured creditors- i.e. Duff & Phelps could use this season ticket cash to pay themselves); and then there is the bizarre situation regarding the transfer of player contracts plus the failure to provide the required notice periods per TUPE regulations for players whose contracts, it has been claimed, have been sold to Green’s newco. It does not help that Mr. Green appears to have some difficulty with providing any explanation of events that is not riddled with logical and factual inconsistencies. Either he and Duff & Phelps have made a monumental error in their interpretation of TUPE rules for the transfer of employees or they are ‘playing dumb’ to cover for another problem.

 

If I was the suspicious and cynical type, I would conclude that this deal is not as done as has been claimed. It has been rumoured on messageboards that Green did not have the funds available to conclude the deal as planned and that Duff & Phelps proceeded anyway- giving Green time to pay from the proceeds of season ticket sales. Certainly this would explain some of the strange circumstances described above. Players could not be sent TUPE notifications if their contracts have not in fact been transferred yet. Duff & Phelps would doubtless prefer to receive season ticket funds directly rather than wait for Green to make good on a promise.

 

If a sufficient number of fans of oldco-Rangers carry out their threat to boycott season ticket renewals, it could force a default by newco. The legal mess that would follow would render all debate about in which league or division the newco should play to be moot. There would simply not be a team representing what was once Rangers next season at all.

Is there something deeper going on here with the Scottish People. ...Thinking back most decent minded Scots have been appalled at the behaviour, antics, criminal, drunken, quasi political and religiously prejudiced baggage attached to Rangers FC over the years. ...Sadly while obviously not the majority of their fans were guilty of that behaviour the numbers were such that there appeared no possibility of stamping it out. ...

 

It was after all the conduct and stated philosophies of the Club that attracted these types from all over Scotland, hanging onto their coat tails wherever they went in order to disperse their poisonous hatred and abusive behaviour. ...

 

Unfortunately even many of the decent Rangers fans while visiting the designated towns of their victims refused to "walk a mile in the other man's shoes" If they had they would have understood the reaction to Rangers plight from the general population. ...There is not a town visited by this Club that couldn't recount stories of hordes of malevolent, swearing drunken louts, using their weight of numbers to bully and intimidate anyone caught in their path. Their shoplifting, public urinating, verbal abuse of anyone "not in their gang" is something every place they have visited, has fallen victim to. ...

 

I remember as a boy growing up in Methil, asking my Mum why she wanted Rangers or Celtic to win at Bayview. ...She told me it was safer for everyone if they did. So as I see what we have witnessed over the last few weeks is an administration of a long overdue punishment by the people of Scotland who have suffered decades of humiliation at the hands of this Club. Unrestrained by the law, the media, Government or even the Football Authorities these victims have grasped their opportunity to meat out their own long overdue punishment, as they see it to Rangers. ...

 

call it vindictive (many Rangers fans do) call it justice (the majority of the people do) or call it fate but look at it this way. ...In a domestic situation on your street, is there a single decent Rangers fan out there, given the opportunity to finally get their own back on a vile and bullying neighbour would count themselves a man if they had not taken the same opportunity? ...Rangers are as much paying the price for their fan's behaviour as they are for their past owners debatably criminal behaviour.

 

Hopefully it is not the idiots who have posted all manner of threats and boasts about when "Rangers" come back who will be leading the way for the fans of the new club but people who realise that this game of football is a SPORT to be watched and enjoyed in the spirit of fair competition and camaraderie with opposition fans. ...A realisation that they represent the reputation of their Club when they visit other fans towns, willing to show friendliness and a desire to leave a good impression wherever they go. ...

 

I don't expect many " Rangers" fans to agree with most of the above but if that is the case then fine, I'm sure the "they don't like us, we don't care" attitude will serve them in the same way some time in the future and if it does, if no lessons have been learned, people like Sandy Jardine are still representing your attitudes, don't complain when it brings you down again in the future, as it most certainly will. ...The Scottish Football Fans have realised how standing together and wielding their undoubted power will overcome even the most ingrained and corrupt areas of our game...and they liked how it felt.
