I'd take the League Cup over the European run, 1995 is now a distant memory but whilst I was proud of the run in Europe I was prouder to see my team lift a trophy, winning cups is what it's all about, not getting mortal in Madrid etc, albeit it was great fun.

I wasn't in Madrid or Munich but I was in Berlin 8 years ago and while I do appreciate what you mean, it doesn't even come close to having even more Dandies celebrating at Hampden when Miller, McLeish and McKimmie lifted those trophies.

christ, being in madrid to watch the dons play...just everything about that trip was absolutely immense and even though im jealous of the older fans for having that on a regular basis, it was also special on its own merits this time

I agree with most of that, MT. Although I disagree with the implication that Jimmy could have taken us further. I think he'd taken us as far as he could but he has to go down as a good manager that we had.

I also agree with much of what MT said, however, and this is what I really feel about JC. He frustrated the hell out of me. I don't think he had the confidence in his own ability to take us to the next level. I always felt he managed to do just enough to make himself look respectable. Just enough to haul us away from danger. He probably had potential to be a good manager, but after 5 years he never really showed that he was going to get any better. He served his purpose. McGhee was a failure, lets move on and hope that Brown and Knox can use their vast experience to manipulate the Board and make this club great again.

jimmy transformed our team and club in 5 years into what i described above.

 

imagine what he could do with another 5 years.

 

jimmy himself was a big personality and for that reason, he was able ot handle big personality players.

It was a bloody good team he inherited - twice as good as the one he left us withimagine what he could have done if he was given ANOTHER 5 years? - relegated us, the warning signs were there for all to see in jimmys last season, dont know many people who didnt predict our downfall he left a season too late in my opinion

Just to back Stoney up on the point on going to Glasgow with the players we had at that time, I remember a game where we went with lovell up top on his own, the huns were awful that game but we made them look good by sitting back trying not to score or conceed.
