Kowalski Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 From the P&J: Brown is awaiting confirmation of a loan move for Blackburn Rovers attacker Nick Blackman. The 20-year-old former Motherwell loan player, is locked in contract negotiations with Rovers and, if he signs a new deal at Ewood Park, he will be allowed to spent the rest of the season with the Dons. Brown is also hopeful of landing a second loan player from Blackburn after positive discussions with manager Steve Kean. Quote
Simplistic Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 Stuart McCall has said on BBC that Motherwell would be Blackman's destination if he is going to return to Scotland. "Motherwell have also lost top scorer Nick Blackman, who has returned to Blackburn Rovers after his loan spell. Aberdeen would like to take the 21-year-old to Pittodrie but Fir Park manager Stuart McCall is confident his club will have the first option to bring him back. "Having spoken to Blackman and his representatives, if he were to return to Scotland for a further loan spell it would be with Motherwell," he told BBC Scotland." Quote

Stuartini Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 Signed a new contract with Rovers until 2013 I see today. Aaaahhh, I assume this was causing the delay in the decision about how far north he is coming. So we getting or nae till the end of the season? If so I assume Paton will be heading for a loan? Quote
Madbadteacher Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 No. If he comes he'll be replacing Maguire who'll either be gone or, sitting in the stands cos Stoney says we canna play him anymore! Quote

Kowalski Posted January 13, 2011 Report Posted January 13, 2011 Dons closer to Blackman but virus intervenes By Michael Gannon Published: 13/01/2011 Aberdeen have moved a step closer to securing attacker Nick Blackman on loan – but their chances of having the Blackburn forward in the team to face St Mirren on Saturday have been scuppered by illness. The 21-year-old agreed a new two-and-a-half year deal at Ewood Park, which immediately opened the door on a short-term move north of the border. The Dons lead the competition from Hibs and Motherwell – for whom Blackman scored 10 goals on loan during the first half of the season. Aberdeen manager Craig Brown is optimistic but the deal has stalled as the attacker is suffering from a virus. Brown concedes even if a deal were to be completed for the youngster, the setback would all but rule him out of facing the Paisley side at Pittodrie. Brown said: “The good news is he has signed a new contract at Blackburn and it means he will be available to go on loan. “The bad news is he is ill, so nothing will be done imminently. “It is unfortunate but we will wait and see what happens. If he is ill it would be highly unlikely he would be able to face St Mirren anyway. “It is a shame. He scored a fantastic goal for Motherwell against St Mirren and that might give him a psychological edge going into the game. “The deal is far from done regardless and we will have to see how he is feeling before any progress is made.” Brown is continuing to press ahead with plans to bring in at least one midfield player on a permanent deal and another on loan. He wants both in his squad for Saturday but may need to settle for one. Captain Paul Hartley will be suspended for Saturday’s game and, with just Derek Young and Ryan Jack fit in the central midfield roles, the Dons need cover. Aberdeen are continuing to negotiate a contract extension for on-loan Udinese defender Nikola Vujadinovic, although Brown has a contingency plan if the talks fail. He said: “I have a centre back lined up on loan if we cannot sort out a deal for Vujadinovic but the talks have been positive.” Brown is aware his budget might not stretch to former Cardiff and Plymouth defender Tony Capaldi, unless current players exit. He said: “I have spoken to Tony and he knows he is the second or third priority at the moment. “The central midfield is critical. “I do not want anyone to leave but it might come down to us instructing players who are out of contract at the end of the season to see if they can get fixed up with clubs in January.” Quote
14Fosters Posted January 13, 2011 Report Posted January 13, 2011 Back of the EE is saying 4 in, 2 out... Story ain't up yet though. Quote
stoney Posted January 13, 2011 Report Posted January 13, 2011 Just up but gives no names, realistically who could we be selling! Aluko? Maguire? Diamond? Clangers? Paton? Quote

maverick sheep Posted January 13, 2011 Report Posted January 13, 2011 slightly worried that the 'budget may not stretch' lines are being trotted out. Surely Capaldi for LB is a priority? why are we paying Myles Anderson if money is tight and he's (apparently) not going to feature in 1st team?? And wasn't broon saying he thought a wide player was his priority? fit the flock min?? Quote
stoney Posted January 13, 2011 Report Posted January 13, 2011 Wowsers - the same problems mcghee had. Who would have seen that coming Quote
14Fosters Posted January 13, 2011 Report Posted January 13, 2011 Just up but gives no names, realistically who could we be selling! Aluko? Maguire? Diamond? Clangers? Paton? Won't be Clangers as I assume the 4 will not include a goalkeeper. I am thinking striker (100% definitely) and centreback would be the most likely areas we would be looking to offload. Which to me would suggest Diamond/Ifil and Paton/Maguire... Quote
CtS Posted January 13, 2011 Report Posted January 13, 2011 Wowsers - the same problems mcghee had. McGhee had way more problems than that. Four points from 14 games being his biggest one. Quote
King Street Loon Posted January 13, 2011 Report Posted January 13, 2011 Of the 2, I'd be looking to offload Ifill for a nominal fee. Say a packet of bon bon's & new shin guards for Folly. And Maguire becuase he's going to leave anyway. Brown know's this hence his pursuit of Blackman IMO. Quote
Harcus Posted January 13, 2011 Report Posted January 13, 2011 who ruin any good threads that do come along oops stoney. Anyway, good to see Brown is trying to sort out the squad he's been left with. Quote
