The tournament in Troon was cancelled due to problems with their pavillion/clubhouse, so the Red Stars played their last match of the season last night, here's a match report from one of our players:

Red Stars 2 GS Livingston 4

An unfortunate end to the season for the Glasgow Reds at home to Livingston. Although we never kicked into gear throughout the match we still controlled the game and created by the far the better chances. Never looked like the losing the game until obviously the last 5 mins when there was no way back.

Despite playing badly we still went 2-1 up with only 20mins to go. Two really well-worked goals I must add. Our opposition was restricted to only playing high balls (a la Stoke) into our half while we tried our best to keep the ball on the deck and put it out on to the wings. Unfortunately their long ball tactic was working and one of the aforementioned hoofs up the park was missed by the swinging foot of four of our defenders and the harmless shot slipped through the legs of our keeper. A car crash goal to lose and a freak which 99 times out of 100 wouldn't have happened.

Our goalkeeper (who has been solid all year) then unfortunately made another howler missing the ball completely and clattering into their attacker. It was just one of those days. They converted the penalty and suddenly from being comfortable at 2-1 we found ourselves 2-3 down.

With only minutes remaining we piled guys forward and put on the pressure, but left obvious gaps at the back when we pushed for the equaliser. As a result we conceeded at the death again.

All credit to Livingston for taking their chances when they came and they are a good bunch of guys, but i'm sure they'll feel lucky to get away with all three points. Without our defensive disasters it would have been a very different outcome.

Despite playing badly and having players out we still looked in control against a team who had been top of the league for most of the season.

A good and solid first season for the Red Stars.
