glasgow sheep
Hibernian U19s 0 Aberdeen U19s 2 Nicky LowAberdeen U19s had an excellent victory this afternoon against Hibs in East Lothian as they continued their recent impressive form. As well as the first team, the u19s are currently enduring an injury crisis. Neil Cooper was without seven regular starters, including Clark Robertson and Joe Shaughnessy who are with the first team. On a difficult pitch which was dry and bumpy, it was difficult for either side to play football and this was not a classic. Aberdeen had the better of the play in the first half and they went ahead after 10 minutes when Nicky Low scored direct from a corner kick. Anyone who has seen Nicky play and understands the ability he possesses knows it was not a complete fluke. He was deliberately trying to put the ball on top of the keeper. Things got even worse from an injury point of view when Jack Grimmer suffered a head knock. He had to be replaced and this caused more changes. Jack was replaced by Dean Carse. Connor Devaney, who had an excellent game, went to right back. Lewis Davidson moved to partner Hallur Hansson in central defence. Then Stephen O'Neill also went off injured which caused more re-organising. He was replaced by Declan McManus who went up front. After half time Nicky Low set up Callum McRobbie who did well in the box. After good play Callum picked out Dean Carse who hit a good shot but the Hibs keeper made a superb save to divert t he ball over the bar. At the other end Hibs did have a couple of chances but Przemyslaw Lukasik was in great form today as well. He had two good blocks and an around excellent match. Aberdeen grabbed a deserved second 10 minutes from time and it was that man Low again. Nicky picked up the ball from a Hansson pass and drove into the box and was brought down for a penalty. The Dons captain took the responsibility himself to give his side the victory. In the closing stages Ryan Fraser was replaced by midfielder Craig Murray who was making his debut for the Dons at this level. Neil Cooper told RedWeb "I was pleased with the way the boys went about their business today. With so many boys missing it was a very good win. The guys who came into the side today were given an opportunity and they took it." manc_don
Maybe they should wind up the first team and we can all support the under 19's, at least they seem respectable.

BigAl
Was up north earlier this week, and went to see them v Huntly in the Aberdeenshire Cup. This was first time I've seen this age group for many years. Was hugely impressed with Nicky Low, who was completely running the middle of the park and seems like a natural leader. He was spraying balls from side to side, and for such a little guy really gets stuck into the tackle. Definitely looks one for the future
