Kenny Posted April 29, 2011 Report Posted April 29, 2011 Someone might as well start this thread, I suppose. Team news: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/scot_prem/9470828.stm Quote
CtS Posted April 29, 2011 Report Posted April 29, 2011 Hopefully we can secure the point we need to avoid relegation with 3 games to spare. Happy Days. Jimmy must go. Quote
manc_don Posted April 30, 2011 Report Posted April 30, 2011 Can't see us winning this one. Can see diamond being as useless as last week. Quote
dave_min Posted April 30, 2011 Report Posted April 30, 2011 Hope none of the players who are leaving play today, time to start building for next season. Quote
Stewart Posted April 30, 2011 Report Posted April 30, 2011 Hope none of the players who are leaving play today, time to start building for next season. Not sure we'll have much choice due to injury. Quote
Madbadteacher Posted April 30, 2011 Report Posted April 30, 2011 Aberdeen: Langfield, Young, Diamond, Vujadinovic, Smith, Paton, Jack, Milsom, Aluko, Maguire, Blackman. Subs: Howard, Pawlett, Magennis, Anderson, Low, Brown, Robertson. That teams just going to be tragically poor at the back! Quote
manc_don Posted April 30, 2011 Report Posted April 30, 2011 I see two of the players that are leaving Caley this summer are not in their starting line ups, but to be fair, it doesn't look like we have much option 8 of that 11 could potentially be elsewhere next season as well. Quote
manc_don Posted April 30, 2011 Report Posted April 30, 2011 Sounds like a pretty mundane first half, with Diamond being standardly useless in front of both goals and Paton missing the best chance of the game. No telling what sort of crowd there is today. Quote
Madbadteacher Posted April 30, 2011 Report Posted April 30, 2011 1604: Inverness go close with their first real threat on goal after Aberdeen defender Zander Diamond is caught out by a long ball. What a surprise! Quote
manc_don Posted April 30, 2011 Report Posted April 30, 2011 Sounded like a decent finish by Pawlett. Good on the guy, I hope his injury problems are behind him now Quote
glasgowdon Posted April 30, 2011 Report Posted April 30, 2011 Sounded like a decent finish by Pawlett. Good on the guy, I hope his injury problems are behind him now Ditto. Think he has the potential to be a great player. Hopefully a solid, injury free pre-season will have him ready for next season. Quote
One Bobby Clark Posted April 30, 2011 Report Posted April 30, 2011 Now that we're mathematically safe, I forsee the return of fear free, flowing, beautiful football. Quote
tlg1903 Posted May 1, 2011 Report Posted May 1, 2011 Craig Browns post match Aberdeen manager Craig Brown positive about future 30 April 11 19:33 Aberdeen manager Craig Brown believes his side's 1-0 win over Inverness shows that the future is bright at Pittodrie. Peter Pawlett came off the bench to score his first senior goal and end the Dons' eight-game winless run. "The most pleasing aspect was that we had 11 players out of 18 on our team sheet who are under 21," said Brown. "It is compulsory to have three and some clubs struggle to do that, so much so that they are doing away with that regulation next season." Pawlett's left-foot drive after 75 minutes secured Aberdeen's first league victory since they overcame bottom side Hamilton in February and Brown believes the win will help the club claim a reasonable finish in the bottom half of the Scottish Premier League table. "We are delighted to get a win with a young team against a team that is looking to be the best of the rest," said Brown. "I think they will finish in seventh position so it was a good achievement to beat them." Meanwhile, Derek Young, who was told this week that his contract would not be extended when it expires at the end of the season, was made Aberdeen captain for the day. Brown added: "Out of respect for his efforts for Aberdeen in almost 250 games, Derek will be the captain for the last four games. "I think he more than deserves that and we are delighted he got off to a winning start." I think we can all agree its a nice touch making young captain. If only all players in red had his footballing ethic Quote
manc_don Posted May 1, 2011 Report Posted May 1, 2011 Agreed, he has the right amount of professionalism and dedication, he just isn't good enough. Nice gesture by the club and I wish him success in his future career. Quote
Stewart Posted May 1, 2011 Report Posted May 1, 2011 AFC.co.uk said today that the Youngs are the first brothers to captain Aberdeen. Quote
Madbadteacher Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 Did Martin Buchan's brother George never captain the team? Quote
