Reekie_Red Posted May 6, 2011 Report Posted May 6, 2011 I would understand if he was from Chile or Japan and was homesick. But he's a Brummie! A quick search online shows return flights from Aberdeen to Birmingham next week start at £115 all up. If you are a bit homesick, you might wanna reconsider your choice of career as a pro footballer. Cos unless you're super-consistent and your home club simply never want to let you go, chances are you're gonna be moving around the world to different clubs at different stages in your career. Quote
Tyrant Posted May 6, 2011 Report Posted May 6, 2011 Wasn't Barry Ferguhun homesick in Blackburn which is a couple of hours away from Glasgow? Quote
Nellie The Don Posted May 7, 2011 Report Posted May 7, 2011 How can anyone be homesick for Birmingham? It's a total shithole. Quote
baggy89 Posted May 7, 2011 Report Posted May 7, 2011 At Cheltenham we had a player called Brian Wilson who was homesick for Stoke, so he moved to Bristol City. Quote
Harcus Posted May 7, 2011 Report Posted May 7, 2011 Disappointed with this one, but as with most players who leave here, I can't help but think he'll not do any better. Think he'll end up League One or lower. Quote

Kowalski Posted May 7, 2011 Author Report Posted May 7, 2011 He had good vibrations about the move though. God only knows why you have started on the puns in this thread. Quote

dave_min Posted May 7, 2011 Report Posted May 7, 2011 Wouldn't it be nice if just one thread didn't turn to puns. Quote
Cowie Posted May 7, 2011 Report Posted May 7, 2011 Wouldn't it be nice if just one thread didn't turn to puns. You should punch whoever started it. Quote
Kowalski Posted July 17, 2011 Author Report Posted July 17, 2011 What's the story with Aluko, is he still with us? Scotland on Sunday SPL preview said he'd left!? Quote
manc_don Posted July 17, 2011 Report Posted July 17, 2011 I think he's technically still contracted to the club, but it appears no-one has been in for him. It's a shame he didn't want to stay because I think the upcoming season may have seen the best of him return. Quote
tom_widdows Posted July 17, 2011 Report Posted July 17, 2011 Theres no such thing as technically still contracted to anyone He either is or he isnt and given hes on the official sites squad list at Number 11 id say that means he is. So if no one comes in for him and he isnt prepared to buy himself out of his contract then hes there to be utilised. Quote

I know that, but it was from reading elsewhere that some people seemed to think they would be shorter. Which didn't make sense. I think he is contracted with us till the end of August? So in that case, he should be in pre season training with the rest of the team and preparing for the duration of the season he would participate in. I certainly think we need someone of his calibre and creativity, whether he wants to do that or not is another matter. Quote
Penfold Posted July 17, 2011 Report Posted July 17, 2011 His contract expired at the end of June. He is under contract to no club, however any club wishing to sign him still has to pay us 200k compensation. He won't be back, as I'd imagine the wages offered to him have been used elsewhere now. Penfold Posted July 18, 2011 Report Posted July 18, 2011 All mentions from Brown, Fraser and Miller have been that his contract ended at the end of June. Where did the Aug/Sept thing come from anyway? Not a chance in hell we're paying a player till September but allowing him not to turn up for training or matches. Quote

Penfold Posted July 18, 2011 Report Posted July 18, 2011 If a player signs a "2 year deal" it doesnt mean it lasts exactly 2 years from that day. Quote
manc_don Posted July 18, 2011 Report Posted July 18, 2011 If a player signs a "2 year deal" it doesnt mean it lasts exactly 2 years from that day. True enough, but I certainly would read that as a 24 month contract. Quote
Tyrant Posted July 18, 2011 Report Posted July 18, 2011 Surely he'd at the very least be training with us and almost certainly taking some part in pre-season friendlies if he was still under contract with us? Quote
Jute Posted July 18, 2011 Report Posted July 18, 2011 Surely he'd at the very least be training with us and almost certainly taking some part in pre-season friendlies if he was still under contract with us? Is Aluko not away with Nigerian Olympic squad? Quote
tom_widdows Posted July 18, 2011 Report Posted July 18, 2011 Is Aluko not away with Nigerian Olympic squad? A year early? Quote
Penfold Posted July 18, 2011 Report Posted July 18, 2011 Is Aluko not away with Nigerian Olympic squad? Had left the squad and "returned to the UK" prior to Jun 23rd. Quote
