manc_don Posted June 22, 2011 Report Posted June 22, 2011 I see according to the BBC we're looking at City goalkeeper Gonzalez on a 6 month loan deal? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13867983.stm Quote
BigAl Posted June 22, 2011 Report Posted June 22, 2011 Surely has to be better than some of the donkeys that gone before him. Two international caps for Colombia Quote
CtS Posted June 22, 2011 Report Posted June 22, 2011 Two international caps for Colombia Not to be sniffed at. Quote
BigAl Posted June 22, 2011 Report Posted June 22, 2011 Not to be sniffed at. only a matter of time after I'd teed it up for someone Quote
CtS Posted June 22, 2011 Report Posted June 22, 2011 One concern is he might be reluctant to come off his line... Quote
Tyrant Posted June 22, 2011 Report Posted June 22, 2011 As long as he helps us smuggles some points out of Ibrox. Quote
BigAl Posted June 22, 2011 Report Posted June 22, 2011 It'll be a blow if this deal falls through Quote
Kowalski Posted June 22, 2011 Report Posted June 22, 2011 Are we getting him free? I would have thought he'd have some sort of street value. Quote
Madbadteacher Posted June 22, 2011 Report Posted June 22, 2011 I've heard he's a good crack in the dressing room. Quote
Jute Posted June 22, 2011 Report Posted June 22, 2011 Surely has to be better than some of the donkeys that gone before him. Two international caps for Colombia In 2005. Not played a first team game since 2008 and as far as I can see form internet not even played a reserve game for Leeds either. Quote
kelt Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 I wonder if he'll 'snort some cocaine up his nose'. Quote

McMaster Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 Gossip column saying he might sign permanently. Quote
BobbyBiscuit Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 Aberdeen will complete the signing of goalkeeper David Gonzalez from Manchester City within 24 hours. (Daily Record) Goalkeeper David Gonzalez says he could join Aberdeen on a permanent deal instead of a loan. (the Herald) Quote
manc_don Posted June 23, 2011 Author Report Posted June 23, 2011 I can't say I've seen him play, but I certainly think that this is something that the club should be looking at given that: a) Langfield is still unable to train b) Langfield is a bit dodgy. Hopefully he'll be a step up from what we have had in recent times. Quote
Reekie_Red Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 Lets see what Bandy can do with him in training. If he can turn Preece into a half-decent keeper, who knows what he can do with a Columbian internationalist!! Quote
McMaster Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 Did read that he is only signing the lad til January. Once Langfield is fit he will be reinstated in the team. Hope sentiment doesn't blind Craigs rational thinking. If he plays blinding for us and wants to stay on loan then Jamie might have to fight to regain his place, which is the way it should be. Quote

McMaster Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 Surely. But i got that from the sun so its probably a lot o rubbish. Either misquoted or completely made up. Quality red top trash paper for me! Well that and the p&j! Quote
Stewart Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 The manager also revealed the club are close to signing Colombia keeper David Gonzalez on loan from Manchester City. "The deal is 90% done. I don't see anything to stop the deal progressing. He is not back in the UK until the 30th but hopefully he will be back in time to join us in Germany. The arrangements are now in the hands of Duncan Fraser and Brian Marwood at Manchester City. It seems to be that all systems are go for the move. David Gonzalez"He will come in as first choice and he can only lose his spot. We will still have to get another goalkeeper in as well. It is a win win situation as David will get to play games and we will get a very good goalkeeper on loan as cover for Jamie. From RedWeb Quote
redbush Posted June 24, 2011 Report Posted June 24, 2011 This guy sounds like he'll be a good signing Quote
Sandaldinho Posted June 26, 2011 Report Posted June 26, 2011 Aberdeen to sign Man City keeper David Gonzalez The Dons have negotiated a deal to bring the 28-year-old Colombian to Pittodrie for a six-month period. Gonzalez joined City in January 2010 but is yet to make a first-team appearance and had a loan spell with Leeds United last season. Chris Oldfield, a 20-year-old goalkeeper formerly on the books at Liverpool, is on trial with the Dons. Manager Craig Brown aims to add two new shot-stoppers to his squad, with Jamie Langfield sidelined until October and Mark Howard released at the end of last season. Langfield suffered a seizure last month and while he has returned to light training with his team-mates he is out of competitive action until the autumn. Former Coventry City midfielder Isaac Osbourne and Spanish midfielder Andoitz Galdos Gabas are also training with Aberdeen at the moment. Quote
