TENEMENTFUNSTER Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 CRAIG Brown insists Nacho Novo was a no-go for Aberdeen as the Red Army would have been up in arms if they had signed the former Rangers striker. Novo is currently back home in Spain with Sporting Gijon, but his agent offered the veteran manager the chance to sign the player. Brown is in the market for a front man after Scotland international Chris Maguire left for Derby County, but immediately ruled out what would have been a highly controversial move. The Spanish hitman has certainly made an impact at Pittodrie in the past but for all the wrong reasons as far as Dons fans are concerned. He was sent off at the venue for a shocking challenge on Stuart Duff in May 2008 on a dramatic last night of the season when Celtic clinched the SPL title at Tannadice. Then he was fined £500 and severely censured by the SFA for making a one-fingered gesture to the Aberdeen supporters following another stormy match at Pittodrie in November 2009. Novo had also infuriated Dons fans at the end of one of the most explosive fixtures in Scottish football by flashing his buttocks at them on the way off the park at the end of that match. Brown said: "We had a striker offered to us, but as soon as I heard the name I knew we couldn't bring him to Aberdeen. "He's an ex-Rangers player who I am told has a bit of previous with our supporters and that wouldn't work. I am not going to bring someone here that would anger the fans as we want to make them happy and proud of this club and its players." Brown also rejected the chance to sign Derek Riordan after contact from the former Hibs striker's agent, but he is determined to keep adding to the squad. The Aberdeen manager hasn't entirely given up hope that Sone Aluko will return to the club despite being out of contract. The Nigeria international wants to return to England, but has been invited to train with the Dons once he recovers from playing in the Olympic qualifying competition. The winger is expected to net the Pittodrie club £200,000 in compensation if he does move, but Brown would rather keep him. He added: "We have spoken to Sone and he is back from Nigeria and quite properly needs a rest at the moment. He has been playing in Olympic qualifiers for his country, but we have offered him the chance to come and train with us if he wants. "What I can say is that we haven't withdrawn the offer that we made to him because we had to do that to cover ourselves in terms of compensation. There is a time limit on things, but if he does want to come back here then at this stage we would still be open to that happening." Nacho fucking Novo, really, what was that cunt of an agent thinking? Also, Riordan just gets a brush of, must be after barrow loads of cash. Quote
Penfold Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 Novo has most likely been offered to every SPL club. Brown using it to score some points with the fans. He'd have signed them if we could have afforded them. Quote
BobbyBiscuit Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 I am not going to bring someone here that would anger the fans as we want to make them happy and proud of this club and its players Nice to see we now have a manager who actually thinks about the support to some extent at least. Quote
Reekie_Red Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 He's an arsehole, especially versus Aberdeen. He's prone to absolute bam-head moments (see Duff tackle, sticking finger up at Dons fans, mooning), but he's certainly decent quality footballer ... certainly of the level we should be looking at (makes a change from the days of Leigh Hinds and Michael Bird). So, the question begs. Would you have Novo at Aberdeen or not? Quote
BigAl Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 Nice to see we now have a manager who actually thinks about the support to some extent at least. No sure that is the real reason Bobby. Could be more the point that Homo has been offered to every SPL club, but wages bar us from pursuing any potential deal, so Brown decides to put positive spin on it. Just a thought like, nae saying your wrong Quote

"It's only three points, no big deal..." Quote

DandyDon96 Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 Aberdeen turn down offers from agents of Nacho Novo and Derek Riordan CRAIG Brown insists Nacho Novo was a no-go for Aberdeen as the Red Army would have been up in arms if they had signed the former Rangers striker. Can you imgaine if broon had said yes http://sport.scotsman.com/football/Aberdeen-turn-down-offers-from.6794078.jp Quote
McMaster Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 Novos agent denying he was offered to Aberdeen now! Got to say i thought this was a wind up at first. To be honest why the hell would he want to come to Aberdeen when you see he is getting linked with English premier clubs? Well apart from Aberdeen being the best football team the world has ever seen ;-) He is hated at Aberdeen and i am sure the feeling is reciprocated. As has been said just probably offered to all Scottish clubs to see what money was offered, ideally looking for a jaunt back to the Huns or if Romanov felt like splashing the cash, a trip to Gorgie! Would love to know what happened with Riordan. Whether it was money, off the field antics or him generally being a wee dick that put us off the deal. Quote
Madbadteacher Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 I'm beginning to get the feeling Broon wants to build a "team" and certain players would upset that dynamic, Riordon, Novo, dare I say Diamond? If so good for him, get a team that plays for each other and we're already better than the last couple of seasons. Quote
dave_min Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 Would you have Novo at Aberdeen or not? In a second. Not gonna happen though. Quote

RDU_64 Posted July 2, 2011 Report Posted July 2, 2011 Would you have Novo at Aberdeen or not? Absolutey not a fucking chance would I have like to see Novo at Aberdeen. Scum of the highest order and one of those not a proper hun but might as well be. He couldn't even get a start at Rangers when they were at their skintest. Fuck off Novo, fucking scumbag. Quote
