BigAl Posted July 15, 2023 Report Posted July 15, 2023 Seems only fair to have a wee snigger Mr Goodwin likes a wee cup shock 1 Quote

Reekie_Red Posted July 16, 2023 Report Posted July 16, 2023 Can we get Goodwin to manage Celtic and then Rangers too? Quote
Reekie_Red Posted July 16, 2023 Report Posted July 16, 2023 Steven Fletcher's departing words as he ripped up the final year of his Tannadice contract: “I know this club will be back where it belongs with the group of players that remain here under Jim’s guidance” Lol 2 Quote

OxfordDon Posted July 18, 2023 Report Posted July 18, 2023 First they get relegated, then they get beaten by Spartans, and now they've signed Louis Moult. Cant't be easy being a Utd fan right now. 1 Quote
Jute Posted July 18, 2023 Report Posted July 18, 2023 After losing to Spartans they get beaten by Thistle tonight 2-1. 3 Quote

Panda Posted July 19, 2023 Report Posted July 19, 2023 One of the mystifying things in football is how managers get worse over time. You'd think they'd improve with experience but Goodwin isn't the first to just seemingly get go on a downwards spiral. Mark McGhee at one point was highly rated. Now he's a joke figure. You can't say it's an age thing as Goodwin is still a young coach. Quote

redordead Posted July 19, 2023 Report Posted July 19, 2023 (edited) A guy with a record like Jim gives a dressing room the ready made excuse they're looking for when things are tough. Probably not a worse manager than before but perception of him from players is probably completely different and they produce less with that safety net of a diddy manager to blame. Well at Aberdeen he completely changed his style, which was the problem. He went from an unspectacular but generally pretty solid 3-5-2 at St Mirren, to trying to be a 4-3-3 attacking maestro at Pittodrie. I would have thought Goodwin would have learned from his mistakes at Aberdeen, the china in a bull shop approach of telling experienced players they can't be coaches (Brown/Mulgrew), doing the whole "I only want players who want to be here" (Considine/Bates/Levitt/Fletcher) and tearing into the rest of the squad. But apparently not. Appears he likes upsetting the dressing room, then replacing the dressing room. Quote

I did same thing saw the link thought fucking hell how did it get that bad then read article and realised not as bad. That said it does show danger of relegation and why we have to avoid it. Quote
