Judging by Twitter, Leigh Griffiths has been sniffing about a 15 year old lass.

There is no affiliation between Leigh Griffiths the paedophile and Leigh Griffiths the Celtic player. They are different entities.

The fucking BBC have re-hashed an article about Griffiths' playing ability and fitness to discuss whether his Celtic career has finished. You'd think that in the 21st century they'd fucking learn. He's a 30 year old man, alleged to have groomed an under age girl FFS. In what fucking planet should that be discussed as a function of his goal return? How good does a player have to be to allow grooming? How far can the grooming go before it results in a player losing their job? Does he have to actually meet up and have sex with the fifteen year old, or does this sports writer believe that he would have definitely stopped at the online grooming process?

Seriously, if the sports writer guys aren't equipped to discuss these subjects then either train them or insist that they write only the minimum. Same goes with doddsy and co on sportsound who will inevitably make the same crass analysis. It's never fucking acceptable for a thirty year old man to groom a fifteen year old (the BBC states under-age). This fucking attitude will allow a club (us, perhaps) to think it's acceptable to hover over the corpse of Griffiths' Celtic career hoping to pick up a "good player" on the cheap. If the allegations are true, and there are no mitigating circumstances, then hopefully it'll be the end of his career.

I see the Tims have signed Joe Hart and James McCarthy. Lots of experience there but I reckon that's two players who are on the way down and have expensive failure written all over them.

Fair comment. Like Shane Duffy and Roy and Robbie Keane before him, James McCarthy is only going there because of the Irish connection (even though he’s Scottish) not to further his career.  Always rated him as a player and actually thought he would end up at Man Utd one day. Looked a fantastic young player but 30 now.

Hart is just there to top up his pension.

WTF is this thread doing way down the board ?

Seems like an appropriate time to resurrect

I make no apology for shamelessly stealing this from elsewhere on internet

I see in a bid to cash in on what is likely to be the day Smelltic secures the title, St Johnstone have granted the away fans three the four stands.

I'm very glad we don't pander to those unwashed minks ... McDiarmid Park season ticket holders must be fkn raging

I'm not sure I would care too much if I was a St J fan.  I would probably look at it and think "that's a players wage for a year covered".

I tend to agree with that thought process given it would be highly unlikely that they would sell the seats to their own fan base.

Exactly. They could actually just sell one of their stands to the Tims and show live coverage on a big screen every week, for those Tim fans that can't get tickets. Or perhaps bring their children up as Tims, because in twenty years time they might be able to offer them four stands and then they could buy another two or three players. It's amazing what you can spend your money on when you swallow all your principles.

Oh, c'mon.  It's St J ffs.  They operate on a shoestring compared to most other teams in the league.  I've yet to find a principle that puts its hand in pocket and pays the bills.

I was being mildly facetious. As far as I'm aware though, St Johnstone aren't struggling to pay the bills, so it does come down to principle. St Mirren have benefitted greatly from telling the scum to do one, and selling to their own fans, as have Killie. It would seem strange that Perth Saints were an outlier, but maybe so. They'll maybe get £50-100k uplift from the scum getting another stand. The price for selling out I guess. I would boycott the game entirely if I were a Saints fan. Fuck going to your own ground to be massively outnumbered. I suspect that they have to offset a drop in fans who won't go under those circumstances, but they can mask it with only one stand. I'd want the option of not paying for those games if I was a season ticket holder. It was always a joke when the scum got an extra section at Pittodrie, and the majority reason the South stand is the only one I never had a season ticket in. Hopefully saints will work on fan engagement before they come back up to the premier, and get something in place to offset the scum.

Although I should say that, despite being true, that is one of the most disgusting phrases I've heard! Not a criticism of you, but the world that we live in. It is possible to make people pay for their lack of principle though. For example, I, and many other Dons fans and fans of other clubs, refused to buy a season ticket until our clubs stopped the Hun from doing anything but enter from the bottom tier. You're right though, the club never had any principled position, it turned out that the preferred option of being unprincipled was more expensive in the end. I think it was right that we held the club to account, and didn't just say "well, principles don't pay the bills, Scottish football needs a str....". It's also right to point out Saints' obsequiousness and criticise too. They're effectively saying that fans have no bearing on performance, which is a hell of a statement to make (and it might be true).
