mizer Posted November 1, 2011 Report Posted November 1, 2011 http://www.eveningexpress.co.uk/Article.aspx/2500414 Striker Rory poised to escape ban By Charlie Allan Published: 01/11/2011 ABERDEEN FC striker Rory Fallon is expected to be cleared of any wrongdoing in their 2-1 defeat by Rangers at Pittodrie. Aberdeen FC have lodged an appeal against the red card shown to the New Zealand international for allegedly elbowing Rangers defender Dorin Goian. The appeal will be heard on Thursday – and sources have confirmed Aberdeen will have the support of former Grade 1 official Sandy Roy, who was the SFA’s referee supervisor at the Pittodrie clash. BigAl Posted November 3, 2011 Report Posted November 3, 2011 Successful appeal. Red card overturned and reduced to a yellow resulting in one match ban now instead of two. Still no public flogging for William Collum Esq for being an incompetent prick though Quote
manc_don Posted November 3, 2011 Report Posted November 3, 2011 Good news, I imagine the SFA / SPL / whoever wouldn't want to upset their poor little vulnerable referees to condemn them. Useless hun bastard. Quote
Graeme_S Posted November 3, 2011 Report Posted November 3, 2011 How can it be yellow? the red was for deliberate elbow presumably. so are they saying he elbowed him by accident? why would that be yellow? Quote
Jute Posted November 3, 2011 Report Posted November 3, 2011 How can it be yellow? the red was for deliberate elbow presumably. so are they saying he elbowed him by accident? why would that be yellow? Accidental elbow is deemed a reckless challange and a yellow card offence. Quote
Tyrant Posted November 4, 2011 Report Posted November 4, 2011 I didn't even think it looked like a yellow to be fucking honest. Quote
manc_don Posted November 4, 2011 Report Posted November 4, 2011 I didn't even think it looked like a yellow to be fucking honest. It didn't but they wouldn't want the ref to look like he's incompetent He was lucky to be still on the park, but that's a separate issue, this wasn't even a foul. Quote
Graeme_S Posted November 4, 2011 Report Posted November 4, 2011 Accidental elbow is deemed a reckless challange and a yellow card offence. Cheers, I never realised that. although not sure it makes sense that you can be punished for something that is accidental! Quote
BobbyBiscuit Posted November 4, 2011 Report Posted November 4, 2011 Cheers, I never realised that. although not sure it makes sense that you can be punished for something that is accidental! A lot of fouls are accidental. In fact, probably most of them are. Quote
Graeme_S Posted November 4, 2011 Report Posted November 4, 2011 A lot of fouls are accidental. In fact, probably most of them are. doesn't mean they all have to be yellow cards tho. If Fallon had been booked for that on Saturday, making it his 2nd yellow I'm pretty sure most folk would have been just as p*ssed off with the decision. Quote

Rebus30 Posted November 5, 2011 Report Posted November 5, 2011 Presumably he has a one match ban due to a tally up of yellow cards and an accrual of points?? Quote
