Kowalski Posted November 10, 2011 Report Posted November 10, 2011 ‘Missing out on move to Aberdeen FC was big regret’ Jim McInally reveals his Pittodrie heartache By Anthony Joseph Published: 10/11/2011 PETERHEAD boss Jim McInally today spoke for the first time about the day his dream move to Aberdeen FC ended in tears. The Dundee United legend opened his heart on what was the lowest point of his career. “Not getting the chance to play for Aberdeen was definitely one of the biggest disappointments I’ve had in football,” he said. I seem to remember him getting unveiled but what happened after that? I also remember that nobody seemed to lose any sleep over him not signing. Quote
BobbyBiscuit Posted November 10, 2011 Report Posted November 10, 2011 United pulled the plug on it saying we couldn't agree a fee I think. There were rumours of him failing a medical too. McInally wasn't a bad player, he was just not really good enough to play for us at the time. Would have been around the early 90s i think; in saying all that, i'd have taken him ahead of Paul Kane who was hellish. Quote
tom_widdows Posted November 10, 2011 Report Posted November 10, 2011 According to wikipedia we were meant to be sending Peter hetherson to united in exchange but Hetherston failed the medical. I always thought he pulled the plug and went off to be player manager somewhere Quote

Hetherston was ding, too, right enough. Quote
Kowalski Posted November 10, 2011 Author Report Posted November 10, 2011 I'm sure Aitken knew what he was doing Quote
baggy89 Posted November 10, 2011 Report Posted November 10, 2011 Was there not a back page of the P&J photo of him in the Soother with a Dons scarf above his head? Quote

scotfree Posted November 11, 2011 Report Posted November 11, 2011 He was not good enough for us at the time but would kill for a player like him now. Quote
