glasgow sheep Posted January 11, 2012 Author Report Posted January 11, 2012 http://www.afc.co.uk/articles/20120111/duo-extend-pittodrie-stay_2212158_2573227 Craig Brown's long terms plans at Aberdeen took a further step forward today with confirmation that striker Scott Vernon and defender Andrew Considine have committed their futures to the Pittodrie club. Dons top scorer Scott, with nine goals to his credit this season, has put pen to paper in a deal that sees him remain with the Club until the summer of 2014 while Andy, a product of the Pittodrie youth system, has signed until the summer of 2015.Andrew Considine Manager Craig Brown commented. "Both Scott and Andy are integral to my plans here at the Club and I'm naturally very pleased they have pledged their futures here. I have already gone on record that I believe Scott can reach the twenty goal tally this season while Andy is the most improved player in our squad this season and one of the first names on the team-sheet each week." Scott (28) joined Aberdeen from Colchester in the summer of 2010 and has previously played for Blackpool, Southed United, Oldham, Gillingham and Northampton while 24 year old Andrew made his debut as a teenager in season 2003-4. http://www.afc.co.uk/javaImages/c/51/0,,10284~10375436,00.jpg[/img] http://www.afc.co.uk/javaImages/12/51/0,,10284~10375442,00.jpg[/img] Quote
manc_don Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 Great news! Glad to see them signing up. Hopefully Considine can build on his better performances this season and Vernon keeps on doing what he does best, scoring Quote
amp Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 A much improved defender, who I'm sure will go on to play for Scotland eventually, and one of the best goalscorers in the SPL signed up. Well done Aberdeen - credit where credit's due. Now let's convince the iceman to stay! Quote
mizer Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 Consi deal includes a testimonial for him Quote
Tyrant Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 Great news. Delighted. But I'd like some of whatever Amp's been sniffing if he thinks Considine will get anywhere near the Scotland squad. There will always be second rate shite in the English lower leagues that Avril would prefer. Quote
manc_don Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 Nice interview with him on RedWeb (Crespo that is). Quote
stubo72 Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 Good stuff. I had forgotten how young Considine is, to be honest! Let's hope he continues to progress... And that Arni signs on for another season... Quote
BigAl Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 Fantastic news Thought that both would stay on, but you never known until the i's are dotted and the t's are crossed Quote
Monkey Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 Good bit on redweb about Vernon as well. http://www.afc.co.uk/articles/20120111/scott-vernon_2212158_2572354 25 goals in 58 starts and 6 sub appearances. That's not far off Shearer's goals to game ratio. Quote
Granite City Reds Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 Very pleased with the way things are going at Pittodrie. Got rid of Foster for money and use this to take Renyolds in and also tie up Considine and Vernon. Things are on the up hopefully Quote
RDU_64 Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 Good news. Particularly important we got Vernon signed up! Not fussed about Consi really, would prefer to see him as a squad player rather than first team but he has improved this season. Now to get Arnie and Ozzie signed up and if possible, get a couple of new faces in! Quote
dave_min Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 A much improved defender, who I'm sure will go on to play for Scotland eventually... You saying he's off to one of the bigots? Quote
mizer Posted January 12, 2012 Report Posted January 12, 2012 Vernon said: “The core of the team is very strong, although it is mainly the players who are going out of contract. “They are the players we need to try to keep. “I am hoping they put pen to paper and stay as well because we should be about to enter a couple of years of excitement and progressing more than we have been doing. maverick sheep Posted January 12, 2012 Report Posted January 12, 2012 That's as uplifting a quote as I've heard from anyone at the club in years! Quote

tlg1903 Posted January 12, 2012 Report Posted January 12, 2012 Vernon was on sportsound last night, he came across really really well. I think hes a very under-rated player, haven't been this pleased by someone signing on again since seve Quote
Tyrant Posted January 12, 2012 Report Posted January 12, 2012 Not sure he's underrated tbh be honest. Certainly not overrated either, though mind you. Quote
