Craig Brown's long terms plans at Aberdeen took a further step forward today with confirmation that striker Scott Vernon and defender Andrew Considine have committed their futures to the Pittodrie club.

Dons top scorer Scott, with nine goals to his credit this season, has put pen to paper in a deal that sees him remain with the Club until the summer of 2014 while Andy, a product of the Pittodrie youth system, has signed until the summer of 2015.Andrew Considine

Manager Craig Brown commented. "Both Scott and Andy are integral to my plans here at the Club and I'm naturally very pleased they have pledged their futures here. I have already gone on record that I believe Scott can reach the twenty goal tally this season while Andy is the most improved player in our squad this season and one of the first names on the team-sheet each week."

Scott (28) joined Aberdeen from Colchester in the summer of 2010 and has previously played for Blackpool, Southed United, Oldham, Gillingham and Northampton while 24 year old Andrew made his debut as a teenager in season 2003-4.

A much improved defender, who I'm sure will go on to play for Scotland eventually, and one of the best goalscorers in the SPL signed up.

Well done Aberdeen - credit where credit's due. Now let's convince the iceman to stay!

Good news. Particularly important we got Vernon signed up! Not fussed about Consi really, would prefer to see him as a squad player rather than first team but he has improved this season. Now to get Arnie and Ozzie signed up and if possible, get a couple of new faces in!

Vernon said: “The core of the team is very strong, although it is mainly the players who are going out of contract.

“They are the players we need to try to keep.

“I am hoping they put pen to paper and stay as well because we should be about to enter a couple of years of excitement and progressing more than we have been doing.
