Silly mistakes cost us the game again today, though it was nice to finally see us score a try (though it should have been two  :hammer: ).

Decent watch and rugby played by both sides, but I can't help but think the wooden spoon will be ours this year.

I was at Murrayfield last Sunday for my first ever rugby match.  Loved it, the atmosphere was cracking in amongst all the frenchies and you can drink. It is so civilised. They were selling glasses of wine and yummy bottles of cider

Nah, min. Murrayfield is a morgue. Has been ever since they redeveloped it. It used to have a cracking atmosphere when the old North and South Stands (or Red Stand and Blue Stand as they were on the tickets) were there. Good ol' fashioned terracing at its best. Standing shoulder-to-shoulder with opposition fans. Get in!!

Now it's full of friendly families with their twee tartan blankets, packet lunches, and pish whispering of the national anthem. Everysooften Murrayfield lights up like its former glory. Me and my auld man picked up on cheap ex-debenture tickets for the 2000 game vs England - the debenture holders couldnae be fucked going to watch Scotland get a pasting and handed the wooden spoon in pishy wet conditions.

Unbelievable atmosphere at the game, as most of the toffs didnt turn up in the stands, leaving the rest of us to pretty much shout, swear and cheer for the entire match. Haven't heard Murrayfield like that since that day.

murrayfield is still capable of getting a good atmosphere like you say. I really like the ground. It makes hampden look like an unnecessary embarrassment now.

I would love to see a Scotland football game at Murrayfield, the atmosphere would be amazing. Off there this afternoon to one of the lounges to watch the Ireland game.

the disgrace isn't that we're shite, the disgrace is that we've created a system in the country in the last 15 years that guarantees we can't be anything other than shite.

it should go back to being the 5 nations, with a 5 nations division below it and 1 promotion relegation, and scotland wouldn't be in it without overhauling the "club" system.

glasgow and edinburgh are meaningless franchises with no history and no youth set ups. the reason they exist is because they can budget to lose, achieve that, and cover their costs. How could that possibly lead to anything other than an embarrassment when it comes to the national team?

andy robinson is certainly not the solution, but neither is he the problem.

Andy Robinson has inherited absolute shite from Frank Hadden. Admittedly Robinson's done alright this season. The first three games of the 6 Nations were very promising. We were a Dan "Neep" Parks disaster away from beating the English. We played some fantastic stuff against the French (World Cup runners up less than six months ago!). And we only had ourselves to blame against a Welsh side who went on to win the Grand Slam.

But its simple errors that cost us. Knock-ons should be almost non-existent at International level ... certainly for a team like Scotland who are one of the Tier 2 teams of World Rugby. There are some fantastic players in the Scotland team at the moment. Barclay, Brown, Jacobsen, Ford, Gray and Strokash and Vernon are the guts of a very very strong and very capable forward pack. And the likes of Ansbro, Blair, Evans, Laidlaw and the Lamont brothers in the backs are world-class! The bulk of the Scotland pack hits the try-line on a regular basis or the Glasgow and Edinburgh teams, and are more than capable of trouncing powerhouse teams like Leinster and Munster.

But pull on a Scottish rugby jersey renders all of these players incapable of catching a ball, breaking the line, or creating an inside pass opportunity. You will never get into the Top Ten of world rugby if you are going to play rugby that the rest of the world teams learned at Under-15 level.

Robinson is doing well. Give him another two seasons and I think we will be back up in the Top 8 and winning more than 50% of games. Binning Townsend was a good move for Scotland. He was only a flash-in-the-pan attacker in his playing days - having him coach our attack was only ever going to produce failure. Will be good to see what solidity Sean Lineen brings to the coaching of the team.

Robinson has won 2 (two) Six Nations games out of 15 with Scotland. We were pumped out the World Cup in record time and during this campaign we went backwards as the tournament went on.  Quite how Robinson has had, and seemingly still, gets so much good press is a mystery to me.  As for Townsend getting dropped in as Glasgow coach, well that beggers belief.

As maverick, and the Sunday Herald said if the 6 nations was expanded we wouldn't even be the 6th best team in Europe just now  :hammer:

Press officers saying to the hacks,;he is here to stay as he is signed to 2015 and we can afford to pay him off.

Scotland centre Joe Ansbro has broken his neck in Ireland.

Bad news for him obviously, but also for Scottish Rugby as he was part of a promising looking young Scotland team.
