ABERDEEN FC midfielder Isaac Osbourne suffered a fresh injury blow ruling him out for at least another month.

 

Osbourne, 25, broke down in training as he battled to recover from a hamstring injury.

 

Manager Craig Brown now faces a nightmare injury crisis ahead of Aberdeen FC’s SPL clash at Hibs on Saturday with 11 players out.

CRAIG BROWN has launched a probe into Aberdeen’s training methods in a bid to discover the reason for the worst injury crisis at the club in 25 years.

 

Defender Isaac Osbourne was ruled out for another month yesterday, joining a team of stricken stars on the casualty list.

 

Most of the players are suffering from hamstring strains but the Dons boss was unable to find the cause.

 

He said: “Isaac has suffered a setback in training and will now be out of action for another month at least. Unfortunately he aggravated the same hamstring problem that he picked up in our Scottish Cup tie at Forfar last month.

 

“It’s a real blow for him. He was probably trying too hard to come back to fitness and now will be out for even longer instead.

 

“He’s despondent at this setback at a time when he was looking to get back playing after signing a new contract.

 

“We have a horrendous injury list. Physio David Wylie said it’s the worst he’s known in 25 years here.

 

“It is worrying the way we keep having players hit by hamstring injuries. I have spoken to the club doctor and the physios to ask why that is the case.

 

“It is the same injury almost every time so you have to try to discover is there is a common factor. If there was we would change our routine to lessen the risk to the players.

 

“Unfortunately, we have not been able to pinpoint any single reason for the increase in this type of injury. It was suggested that the poor weather, which forced us to train on various surfaces, might be a factor.

 

“Playing surfaces were put forward as another as they vary from club to club.

 

“We also wondered if how we warm the squad up at training might have something to do with it but there has been no complaint from the players.

 

“If it isn’t the pitches or the warm-up to blame I suppose you just have to put it down to a freak coincidence.

 

“The players are as fit and finely tuned as they can possibly be. We’ve just been extremely unfortunate.

 

“At this stage only one of the players who have been out recently has a chance of playing against Hibs at Easter Road this weekend, Clark Robertson.

 

“Chris Clark, who damaged his hamstring against Queen of the South, is awaiting the result of a scan but is expected to be out for a month as well.

 

“Peter Pawlett, Gavin Rae, Russell Anderson are also out with the same injury while Rob Milsom’s season is over after knee surgery.

 

“New signing Danny Uchechi, Youl Mawene, Yoan Folly and Michael Paton are in various stages of recovery.”

A physio I know absolutely slates the afc physio team and this is apparently a widely held view in sporting physiotherapy in Scotland.  Apparently they are never seen at any meetings or seminars updating their knowledge
