Reekie_Red Posted March 18, 2012 Report Posted March 18, 2012 Hi hate St Patricks Day. Sure, if you live in Ireland, are from Ireland, or are at least 50% Irish then this is your day. But why must the whole world celebrate the Patron Saint of Eire? My stance is I refuse to celebrate St Paddys day until everyone in Ireland celebrates St Andrews Day Quote
scunnered999 Posted March 18, 2012 Report Posted March 18, 2012 I can't be arsed with all the shit around St Patricks day either, but as nobody in Scotland celebrates St Andrew's day so why would anyone else bother Quote

I can't be arsed with it either but folk are having fun through it so it can't really be that bad, can it? If it's not for you, don't get involved, not sure hatred is required for it. Quote
manc_don Posted March 18, 2012 Report Posted March 18, 2012 I was out last night because I had mates down for the Rugby. There were lots of folk pretending to be irish last night and I've always thought it was pretty pathetic. It's not for me, but if people are daft enough to not know what it stands for and still participate, fuck them. Good on the pubs for taking advantage of them! Quote
dave_min Posted March 18, 2012 Report Posted March 18, 2012 I hate seeming other people having fun too. Quote

glasgow sheep Posted March 19, 2012 Report Posted March 19, 2012 So everyone celebrating St Pats day went off to church on Sunday to worship St Pat? Quote
Tyrant Posted March 19, 2012 Report Posted March 19, 2012 St. Paddy's day = Aberdeen toon centre concentration of knobs even higher than normal. Therefore it can get to fuck. Quote
fatjim Posted March 19, 2012 Report Posted March 19, 2012 I have no time for St Andrew's Day never mind St Patrick's Day. It's all shite. Quote
mizer Posted March 19, 2012 Report Posted March 19, 2012 Well done to the Guinness marketing department. Quote
rocket_scientist Posted March 20, 2012 Report Posted March 20, 2012 Agree fj, and I can provide a specific reason too. Isn't this exciting? Mothers day, valentines, st fucking enochs or whatever, even Xmas is all a bunch of shite because it's all a contrivance. The reason why they're so contrived is that these specific days, whatever pagan or historical reason for their existence, are almost exclusively promoted by corporatocracies for the sole purpose of making money. fatjim Posted March 21, 2012 Report Posted March 21, 2012 FFS sake. I'm only the second. A bit of 2nd child syndrome there. Just accept it that parents couldn't give a fuck about their 2nd child. Quote
Tyrant Posted March 21, 2012 Report Posted March 21, 2012 My Ma still took me to the cup semi final and final in '95 so that's all that counts. Quote
